COMMISSIONERS Minute No. 198 Office of County Commissioners Washington, Pa., December 20, 1979 The Board of County Commissioners met in regular session with the following members being present: Commissioners Gilmore, Paluso and Morgan. Also being present: Chief Clerk Brady; Solicitor Porter; Budget Director Gillespie; Administrative Assistants Ligman and Giecek; Coroner Jackson; J. Bracken Burns, Emergency Medical Services; Mrs. Miller, League of Women Voters; Jim Jefferson, WJPA; Bob Sabot, WKEG; Becky Miller, Daily Herald. Chairman noted for the record that the three Commissioners, the Chief Clerk and County Solicitor were in attendance. Chairman asked if there were any corrections, additsons.or omissions to Minute No. 197, each member.having received a copy. Moved by Mr. Paluso, seconded by Mr. Gilmore, that Minute No. 197, be approved as read. Roll call vote taken:' Mr. Gilmore - Yes; Mr. Paluso - Yes; Mr. Morgan - Yes. Motion carried unanimously. Correspondence: Chief Clerk informed the Board of the receipt of the following checks: 1. F.N.B. - Repurchase Agreement - Industrial Development Revolving Fund - Interest Earned - $26,759.58 2. Commonwealth of PA - Incentives for month of Sept., 1979 Child Support Program Fund - $374.33 3. U. S. Treasury - Refund on Bill for Collection PA-B-8-80 Disbursement Acct. - Cross Creek Fund - $28,858.51 r Chid Clerk presented the following bills to the Board for their consideration and approval: 1. COMMISSIONERS Elections, has provided him with a list of candidates who had paid the find, and he requested that the Board approve refunds to these particular people. Remarks: Mr. Paluso suggested that the other candidates who were also fined, but have not paid as of yet, be informed by letter of the amendment and the new deadline,, Moved by Mr. Paluso, seconded by Mr. Gilmore, approving the refunds to the following candidates as per above. Mr. Porter stated there was still a problem with Magistrate Martin's lease, which will expire at the end of the year. He stated that rental for the building now being leased will be raised from $300.00 to $450.00 per month by the new owner. Remarks: Mr. Paluso stated that he had talked to Magistrate Martin, who felt that this was an exorbitant rental, and that he would attempt to negotiate something with the new owner; but if nothing could be agreed upon, he did have temporary arrangements for other quarters until a permanent one could be found. Mr. Porter stated that there has been some question concerning the membership on the Board of Directors of the Washington County Hospital Authoritj He explained that he was told originally that the Board had appointed a successc to Mr. Gwaley, who resigned from the Board, but after careful reading of their communciation, it indicates that the Board only recommended Mr. Tokar to the appointment, and therefore, the vacancy remains to be filled, as well as one which expires at the end of the year. Mr. Porter also stated that a question was raised as to whether the size of the Board could be increased so as to afford some representation from other sections of the County in the Monongahela Valley area. GILMORE. EDWARD M. PALUSO. COMMISSIONERS the recommendation has to come from the Board itself, and then has to be approved by the Board of County Commissioners. Mr. Porter informed the Board that he would be unable to attend next week's meeting. 10:30 A.M. - OPENING OF BIDS FOR LAUNDRY ITEMS FOR THE HEALTH CENTER; WEIGHT TRAINING MACHINE FOR THE JAIL; AND EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICE EQUIPMENT; AND EXTENSION OF COUNTY GARAGE. Barbara Davis of the Controller's Office opened and read the following bid received for the laundry items. 1. Associated Textile Systems, Inc. 51st and A.V.R.R. St. Pittsburgh, PA 15201 Total amount of bid: $203,002.80 A bid bond in the amount of $20,400.00 accompanied the bid. Ms. Davis opened and read the following bids received for the Weight Training Machine. 1. Recreation Equipment Unlimited P.O. Box 4700 Pittsburgh, PA 15206 Total amount of bid: $3,795.00 - quoted in Mailgram as per conversation with Solicitor Porter - dated 12-18-79 bid bond to follow under separate cover 2.
