Roll call vote taken: Mr. Paluso - Yes; Mr. Gil,-iiore - Yes; Mr. Mascara - Yes. Motion carried unanimously. Correspondence: Chief Clerk informed the Board of the receipt of the following checks: 1. U. S. Treasury - 5100,000.00 - Employment and Training Program 2. Commonwealth of PA - $1,3,423.84 - Day Care Contract 40630 - Iionth of January, 1981 Chief Clerk informed all those present of a Notice of "Public Forum from the Army Corps of Engineers to be held on Tuesday, March 17, 1981, at the Federal Building in Pittsburg: concerning the rehabilitation work at Locks and Dam No. 3, Monongahela River which involved lengthening the smaller river chamber to accommodate waterway commerce while the larger land chamber was undergoing repair. New Business: Chief Clerk presented to the Board a Proclamation designating March 8 - 14, 19911 as `Employ The Older TJorker T9eek" and urging all state , _ county and local officials an-,- citizens to join in an effort to increase public awareness of the employment needs and concerns of older workers and to assist those per- sons in finding meaningful and gainful employment opportunities in our communitiws. Moved by Mr. Gilmore, seconded by Mr. Paluso, adopting the foregoing Proclamation. Roll call vote taken: Mr. Paluso - Yes; Mr. Gilmore - Yes. Mr. Mascara - Yes. PALUSO, COMMISSIONERS - -_- _----------- Chief Clerk presented to the Board a request for a supplemental appropriation of funds in the amount of $7,001.00 to continue the Day Care Program as per Title XX of the Social Security Act in Washington County for working parents that qualify. ,loved by Mr. Gilmore, seconded by Mr. Paluso, approving the supple- mental appropriation of funds for the Day Care Program as per above. Roll call vote taken: Mr. Paluso - Yes; Mr. Gilmore - Yes; Mr. mascara - Yes. Motion carried unanimously. Chief Clerk presented to the ?hoard for their approval and signa- ture a deed from the County to Anna Kepich in order to settle condemnation on a parcel of land in the Mingo Creek Park. ,Moved by Mr. Gilmore, seconded by Mr. Paluso, approving the fore- going deed with Anna Kepich. Roll call vote taken: Mr. Paluso - Yes; Mr. Gilmore - Yes; Mr. Plascara - Yes. Motion carried unanimously. Regarding the WCP,TA Program, Chief Clerk presented to the Board a request to amend agreements with the following Contractors for the amounts shown due to recent wage increases. Previous Add. II-D 0,?�1.1`1 505.r) Chief Clerk Presented to the :hoard for their consideration and approval a request to amend the amount of the contract with Tdashington In- stitute of Technology (previous authorization on September 13, 19`I) to not exceed $35,100.00. The term of the Contract is from October 1, 1g80 - September 30, 1981 and is funded under CFTA Title II-B. Remarks: Air. Paluso questioned the legality of approving these amendments due to the recent cutback on 17CFTA funded programs. Acting Solicitor Retos assured 11r. Paluso that as long as the ;ponies are presently available, there is no problem in approving the amendments; he stated that he would verify this wife 'Ir. Lignelli. ?'Loved by 1°r. Meeting recessed until 10:30 a.m. 10:30 A.M. - OPENII1G OF BIDS - LAUNDRY FOR WCHC bid: Roger Metcalfe of the Controller's Office opened and read the following Associated Textile Systems, Inc. 51st and A. V. R. COMMISSIONERS Remarks: Marvin Resnick of Associated Textile Systems, Inc. recommended to the Board that they could possibly save $25,000.�O per year by having the wash cloths and bath towels washed at the health Center in addition to the patients' personal garments. He also stated that his company is willing to lend their assistance and expertise in the textile industry in order to help the County save more money. Moved by Mr. Gilmore, seconded by Mr. Paluso, that the bid for the delivery and pick up of the laundry for the t,JCHC he awar3er' to ASSOCIATED TEXTILE S77,TEMS, ITC., of Pittsburgh, this being the lowest and most resDonsl- ble bid received in accordance with the specifications.
