PALUSO, COMMISSIONERS Minute No. 75 Office of County Commissioners Washington, Pa., June 23, 1977 The Board of County Commissioners met in regular session with the a following members being present: Commissioners Gilmore, Paluso and Morgan. t Also being present: Acting Chief -Clerk Tina Dallatore; Solicitor Diamond; 6 John Cadez of Englehardt & Power; John Drake, Senior Citizens; Mrs. Miller, League of Women Voters; Bob Robertson, Observer -Reporter and Earl Bugaile, WKEG. Chairman noted for the record that the three Commissioners, Acting Chief Clerk and Budget Director were in attendance. Chairman asked if there were any corrections., -additions or omissions to Minute No. 74, each member having received a copy. Moved by Mr. Gilmore, seconded by Mr. Paluso, that Minute No. 74, be approved as read. Roll call vote taken: Mr. Gilmore - Yes; Mr. Paluso - Yes; Mr. Morgan - Yes. ! Motion carried unanimously. Correspondence: Acting'Chief Clerk informed the Board of the receipt of the following checks: 1. Commonwealth of Pa. - ck. #43-0141891 dated 6-13-77 for Contract #3540 (April actual & June estimate) and Contract #3540-A (April actual & June estimate) Account 6-b-18 - $23,672.91 2. Washington & Greene County MH/MR Program - ck. #5467 dated 6-16-77 - Reimbursement for Review Officer Bryan Pizzi for months of Sept. thru June 1977 Account 17-F - $3,205.02 3. Amanati & Tucci - U.S. Fidelity & Guaranty Co. Return under Workmen's Compensation Audit - ck. #15756 dated 6-17-77 - Account #17-g - $2,568.00 Acting Chief Clerk informed the Board of a memorandum from Joseph i Giecek, Administrative Assistant, asking that a resolution be adopted stating that the Washington County Commissioners in conjunction with the city of Washington Mayor's Commisson for the Handicapped, proclaim the week of June 27 to July 2, 1977, as "Handicapped Awareness Week" in Washington County. Moved by Mr. Gilmore, seconded by Mr. Paluso, adopting the proposed resolution as per above. Roll call vote taken: Mr. Gilmore - Yes; Mr. Paluso - Yes; Mr. Morgan - Yes. Motion carried unanimously. Acting Chief Clerk informed the Board of a request from John Fantini, Manpower Director, for travel authorization for June 23, 1977, to Harrisburg to meetwith the Governor's representatives and VW along with other Prime L' E Sponsors. Motion carried unanimously. Acting Chief Clerk informed the Board of a letter from Child Welfare Services regarding a child who has been under the agency's foster care since 9-4-63. Said letter stated that Kurt Campbell is in need of a continued intensive therapy program, and they asked that funding be provided for his therapy sessions during the months when the Intermediate Unit is not in session and their funds not available. Total funding will amount to $153.00. Moved by Mr. Gilmore, seconded by Mr. Paluso, approving the request for funds in the amount of $153.00 as per above. Roll call vote taken: Mr. Gilmore - Yes; Mr. Paluso - Yes; Mr. Morgan- Yes. Motion carried unanimously. Acting Chief Clerk informed the Board of a request from the Washington -Greene County Tourist Promotion Agency for their third quarterly allocation for 1977. Acting Chief Clerk informed the Board of a letter from the Washington -Greene Community Action Corporation requesting the transfer of a check in the amount of $23,672.91 for day care services provided under the Department of Welfare Contract #3540. Acting Chief Clerk informed the Board of a letter of resignation from Mary C. Kunselman, Secretary, Public Defender's Office, due to retirement, effective July 29, 1977. Acting Chief Clerk informed the Board of two Change Orders from McAnallen Corporation regarding the Washington County Health Center - one for the installation of a standard catch basin for $1,180.00, and for the installa- tion of three sections of steel guard rail for $3,450.00. Moved by fir. Gilmore, seconded by Mr. Paluso, approving the two Change Orders as per above. Roll call vote taken: Mr. Gilmore - Yes; Mr. Paluso - Yes; Mr. Morgan - Yes. Motion carried unanimously. Acting Chief Clerk informed the Board of a letter from the Emergency Medical Institute in Pittsburgh, which stated that the elected governmental officials from each of their EMS Region's twelve counties have continuing representation on the EMSI Board of Directors and that Richard P. Brady has been the designee of Washington County for the past year. Said letter requested that the Board of Commissioners reconfirm this appointment or to select another designee of their choice. Acting Chief Clerk announced that the Commissioner's regular meeting next Thursday, June 30, 1977, will be cancelled due to the Pennsylvania State Association of County Commissioners Convention to be held next week. Mr. Diamond presented a proposed Agreement for the Board's considera- tion to retain Pete Dorchak as a Posting Agent for the Washington County Tax Claim Bureau. Said Agreement will be for a six-month period commencing on June 1, 1977 and ending on December 31, 1977 at a compensation of $500.00 per month plus reimbursement for reasonable travel expenses. Mr. Diamond then recommended approval of this Agreement. Moved by Mr. Paluso, seconded by Mr. Gilmore, approving the Agreement as per above. Roll call vote taken: Mr. Gilmore - Yes; Mr. Paluso - Yes; Mr. Morgan - Yes. Motion carried unanimously. Mr. Paluso made note of the untimely passing of Mr. Jack Merdian, who passed away this morning.
