Chairman noted that the Board has had a research committe+i,consisting
of Bob Franks, Prothonotary, Metro Petrosky, Clerk of Courts, and Joe Giecek,
Administrative Assistant to the Commissioners„study what type of microfilming
system would best suit the needs of the County. Mr. Morgan then asked
Mr. Petrosky to give a report of their findings. Mr. Petrosky noted that there
are at least 6.5 million pages in his office alone which could be committed to
microfilm, and an even heavier load in the Prothonotary's office. He reported
that after researching several systems, the committee had found the 3M system
flexible enough to adapt to any county office. He also nottd-othet advantages
of the system such as freeing of much needed space in the courthouse, and the
system would more than pay for itself since it could be integrated into any
computer setup. Mr. Petrosky estimated the cost to be in the neighborhood of
$24,000 fo r.the 3M system.
