BEYEC, JOHN MAZZA, COMMISSIONERS fl Minute No. 105-S Office of the County Commissioners Washington, Pa., September 30, 1971 The Salary Board of the County of Washington met in the Office of the County Commissioners with the following members being present: Commissioners Capano, Mazza, and Flynn and Deputy Controller Whalen. Also present being: Chief Clerk Murphy; County Solicitor Porter; Assistant County Solicitor Carson; Reporter Roule of the Monongahela Publishing Company; Reporter Robertson of the Observer -Reporter; Reporter Bennett of the Brownsville Telegraph; Jack Merdian of WJPA; and Public Information Officer Huber. Meeting called to order by Chairman and roll call taken: Mr. Capano - Present; Mr. Mazza - Present; Mr. Whalen - Present; Mr. Flynn - Present. Chairman asked if there were any corrections, additions or omissions to Minute No. 104-S, each Commissioner and County Controller having received copies. Moved by Mr. Whalen, seconded by Mr. Mazza, that Minute No. 104-S be approved, as read. Roll call vote taken: Mr. Capano - Yes; Mr. Mazza - Yes; Mr. Whalen - Yes; Mr. Flynn = Yes. Motion carried unanimously. COMMISSIONERS' OFFICE: Moved by Mr. Capano, seconded by Mr. Whalen, that the salary of Christine Baron, Clerk -Stenographer in the Commissioners' Office be set at $143. 50 bi-weekly, effective September 27, 1971. This is a replacement. Roll call vote taken: Mr. Capano - Yes; Mr. Mazza - Yes; Mr. Whalen - Yes; Mr. Flynn - Yes. Motion carried unanimously. CORONER'S OFFICE: Moved by Mr. Whalen, seconded by Mr. Capano, that the salary of Debra Pilkington, temporary secretary - for September 17, 1971 through September 30, 1971, while the regular secretary is on vacation - be set at $130. 00 bi-weekly. SHERIFF'S OFFICE; Chief Clerk presented correspondence from Sheriff Alex Debreczeni, requesting payment of: Donald Debreczeni $200. 00 - for services as special deputy on Sept. 20 - Oct. 1, 1971 Evelyn J. Wimert $ 20. 00 - for services as matron while transporting Mrs. Annette Gilly from Waynesburg to Washington County Jail, on Sept. 26, 1971 The following deputies, for services rendered in the Sheriff's Office concerning the Yablonski Case, on Sept. 27, 28, 1971: John M. Jochynek 2 Days $40. 00 Edward J. Bezusko 1 Day $20. 00 Robert Pulkvski 1 Day $20. 00 Moved by Mr. Capano, seconded by Mr. Mazza, that the above request from Sheriff Debreczeni be tabled until a conference is held with the responsible parties. Remarks: Mr. Capano: This is not a routine salary matter. There has been no established policy on this. I believe that until we have an established policy that this should be held in abeyance. Mr. Debr`eczeni entered the meeting. Roll call vote taken: Mr. Capano - Yes; Mr. Mazza - Yes; Mr. Whalen - Yes; Mr. Flynn - Yes. Motion carried unanimously. Mr. Debreczeni left the meeting. FLYNN, JOHN P. BEVEC, JOHN MAZZA, COMMISSIONERS 1 1 Hanna Johns worked overtime due to the fact that James Derry reported off. Abraham Zahand worked overtime due to the illness of Albert Pipik. Roll call vote taken: Mr. Capano - Yes; Mr. Mazza - Yes; Mr. Whalen - Yes; Mr. Flynn - Yes. Motion carried unanimously. JUVENILE DETENTION HOME: Moved by Mr. Capano, seconded by Mr. Mazza, that a voucher be prepared in the amount of $139.40 for Daniel Luppino, Detention Home Counselor, who worked a total of 41 hours @ $3. 40 per hour, for the dates from September 15, 1971 - September 28, 1971. Roll call vote taken: Mr. Capano - Yes; Mr. Mazza - Yes; Mr. Whalen - Yes; Mr. Flynn - Yes. Motion carried unanimously. TAX ASSESSMENT: The following temporary clerks in the Tax Assessment Office are to be terminated, effective October 1, 1971: Jeanette Harris Colleen Curry Moved by Mr. Capano, seconded by Mr. Mazza, that the salaries of the following employees be set as indicated: WASHINGTON CO. HOME FOR AGED WOMEN: Name: Salary: Patricia Pastor, Registered Nurse $27. 60 per day WASHINGTON CO. HOME & HOSPITAL: Name: Salary: Robert L. Adams, Orderly $1. 90 per hour replacing Henry Lee Webb, Jr. , who was dismissed. Ronald E. Bogan, Orderly $1. 90 per hour replacing Herman Heirendt, who resigned Roll call vote taken: Mr. Capano - Yes; Mr. Mazza - Yes; Mr. Whalen - Yes; Mr. Flynn - Yes. Motion carried unanimously. BEVEC, JOHN MAZZA, COMMISSIONERS TREASURER'S OFFICE: Moved by Mr. Whalen, seconded by Mr. Capano, that the following Extra Help Payroll for the dates from September 23, 1971 - October 1, 1971 be approved for payment: Marjorie Celani 45 1/2 Hours @ $2. 00 per hour $91. 00 Harriet Giles 45 1/2 Hours @ $2. 00 per hour $91, 00 Roll call vote taken: Mr. Capano - Yes; Mr. Mazza - Yes; Mr. Whalen - Yes; Mr. Flynn - Yes. Motion carried unanimously. Judge DiSalle entered the meeting. COURTS: Judge DiSalle stated that at about the time of David Smith's resignation from the Adult Probation Office, a commitment was entered into with Stephen Plochi, to fill a position. Since that time, Geoffrey Smith was hired, with the unde-rstaroinr that Stephen Plochi would be filling the position of Adult Probation Officer. Moved by Judge DiSalle, seconded by Mr. Mazza, that Stephen Plochi I be employed as an Adult Probation Investigator from September 13, 1971 through October 15, 1971 at a bi-weekly salary of $192. 00; then beginning October 18, 1971, his position will be changed to Adult Probation Officer at a bi-weekly salary of $271. 34. Also included in this motion is that effective October 18, 1971, that the title of Geoffrey Smith, Adult Probation Officer be changed to Adult Probation Investigator and his salary be reverted from $271. 34 bi-weekly to $192. 00 bi-weekly. Remarks: Mr. Flynn: This man Plochi meets the requirements of the state. This is the minimum salary required by the state. We have two positions which are reimbursed by the state. Roll call vote taken: Judge DiSalle - Yes; Mr. Capano -- Yes; Mr. Mazza - Yes; Mr. Whalen - Yes; Mr. Flynn - Yes. Motion carried unanimously.
