BEVEC, JOHN MAZZA, COMMISSIONERS Do Minute No. 37-S Office of the County Commissioners Washington, Pa., June 7, 1973 The Salary Board of the County of Washington met in the Office of the County Commissioners with the following members being present: Commissioners Jones, Paluso and Flynn and Controller Elish. Also present being: Administrative Assistant Whalen; Assistant Solicitor Gilmore; Reporter Robertson of The Observer -Reporter; and Earl Bugaile of WKEG Radio. Meeting called to order by Chairman and roll call taken: Mr. Jones - Present; Mr. Paluso - Present; Mr. Elish - Present; Mr. Flynn - Present. Chairman asked if there were any, corrections, additions, or omissions to Minute No. 36-S, each Commissioner and County Controller having received copies. Moved by Mr. Paluso, seconded by Mr. Jones, that Minute No. 36-S be approved, as read. COURTS: Roll call vote taken: Mr. Jones - Yes; Mr. Paluso - Yes; Mr. Elish - Yes; Mr. Flynn - Yes. Motion carried unanimously. Moved by Mr. Paluso, seconded by Mr. Elish, that the salary of Deborah McKenery, Juvenile Probation Office, be set at $225. 00 bi-weekly for a maximum of 10 weeks, effective June 4, 1973. Said action is on the condition that her employment is at no expense to the County and that her salary will be borne solely by the Commonwealth through its Grant - In -Aid for Juvenile Court Probation Services. Roll call vote taken: Mr. Jones - Yes; Mr. Paluso - Yes; Mr. E lish - Yes; Mr. Flynn - Yes. Motion carried unanimously. Moved by Mr. Paluso, seconded by Mr. Elish, that the salaries of the following secretaries in the Magisterial Districts indicated be approved: MAGISTERIAL DISTRICT # 3 : For a matter of record: Pamela Olson and Elvera Barcelona will continue working full time until Barbara L. Traverseri returns. (Mr. Paluso suggested that the Board tentatively approve this until they find out why there are two working full time instead of one.) B£vEC, JOHN MAZZA, COMMISSIONERS MAGISTERIAL DISTRICT # 8: Albina Belsente replaced Eleanore Lutes for one day on May 21, 1973. MAGISTERIAL DISTRICT # 14: Phyllis Littman to work two weeks out of each month starting in the month of June. Roll call vote taken: Mr. Jones - Yes; Mr. Paluso - Yes; Mr. Elish - Yes; Mr. Flynn - Yes. Motion carried unanimously. CHILD WELFARE SERVICES: Moved by Mr. Elish, seconded by Mr. Jones, approving the salary increases of the following employees based on the Performance Evaluation Reports: Jeffrey L. Dykstra, Caseworker, salary increase from $8, 163. 00 to $9, 011. 00 annually, effe ctive Fran Emery, Clerk -Typist I, salary Increase from $5, 268. 00 to $5, 529. 00 annually, effective June 11, 1973. Remarks: Mr. Paluso stated that he would like a full explanation from Mr. Gilmore on this setup of salary increases. Discussion was held on meritorious and automatic raises. Mr. Paluso also stated that he would vote "no" until that report is received from Mr. Gilmore. Roll call vote taken: Mr. Jones - Yes; Mr. Paluso - No; Mr. Elish - Yes; Mr. Flynn - Yes. Motion carried. SHERIFF'S OFFICE: Moved by Mr. Jones, seconded by Mr. Elish, that the salaries of the following matrons be approved for payment: Dorothy Ulom, May 21-30 (9 days) - $270. 00 Paula Teagarden, May 30 - June 9 (10 days) - $300. 00 Roll call vote taken: Mr. Jones - Yes; Mr. Paluso - Yes; Mr. Elish - Yes; Mr. Flynn - Yes. Motion carried unanimously. JUVENILE DETENTION HOME: Moved by Mr. Jones, seconded by Mr. Paluso, that a voucher be prepared in the amount of $129. 20 for Daniel Luppino, Detention Home Counselor, who worked a total of 38 sours @ $3.40 per hour for the dates from May 23, 1973 - June 5, 1973. Roll call vote taken: Mr. Jones - Yes; Mr. Paluso - Yes; Mr. Elish - Yes; Mr. Flynn - Yes. BEVEC, JOHN MAZZA, COMMISSIONERS COUNTY PRISON: Moved by Mr. Jones, seconded by Mr. Elish, that the salaries of the following employees be approved for payment: Alverta Denson, Matron (10 days at $16. 80 per day) - $168. 00 Mildred Pacilla, Matron (3 days at $16. 80 per day) - $50.40 Juanita Levers, Matron (2 days at $16. 80 per day) - $33.60 Corrine Yaros, Matron (5 days at $16. 80 per day) - $84. 00 Francis Rosman, Guard (10 days at $24. 15 per day) - $241. 50 Roll call vote taken: Mr. Jones - Yes; Mr. Paluso - Yes; Mr. Elish - Yes; Mr. Flynn - Yes. Motion carried unanimously. WASHINGTON COUNTY BRIDGE DEPARTMENT: Moved by Mr. Jones, seconded by Mr. Elish, that the salaries of the following employees who were recalled be set as indicated: Joseph Lanzy, Foreman, $280. 50 bi-weekly, effective May 30, 1973. Frank Brager, Laborer, $3. 15 per hour, effective May 30, 1973. Ardelio Gavazzi, Carpenter, $3. 39 per hour, effective May 30, 1973. A.R. Samloff, Carpenter, $3. 39 per hour, effective May 30, 1973. Louis Tiano, Truck Driver, $3. 28 per hour, effective May 30, 1973. Roll call vote taken: Mr. Jones - Yes; Mr. Paluso - Yes; Mr. Elish - Yes; Mr. Flynn - Yes. Motion carried unanimously. PARKS & RECREATION: Moved by Mr. Jones, seconded by Mr. Paluso, that the salary of Neal Baker, Recreation Supervisor replacing George Sharkady, be set at $270. 00 bi-weekly, effective May 28, 1973; this is for a four -month probationary period. Remarks: Controller Elish questioned the need of a Recreation Supervisor for the whole year round. Discussion was held, and it was decided that the above salary would be approved for a four - month probationary period; also, that Mr. George is to be contacted as to this setup and also for his recommendations.
