THE FOREGOING MINUTES READ AND APPROVED: 1972 ATTEST: CHIEF CLERK .I. i J. .1. .I. ... .I� • •ijC ijC ijC :jC Minute No. 1-P Office of the County Commissioners Washington, Pa., January 17, 1973 The re -organization and regular meeting of the Prison Board of the County of Wash - met in the Commissioners' Conference Room at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, January 17, 1973, with the following members being present: District Attorney Costa; Judge Curran; Sheriff Debreczeni; Controller Elish, Commissioner Flynn; Commissioner Jones; Commissioner Palus4; and Judge Gladden. Absent being: Judge DiSalle; Judge Marino; and Judge Sweet. Also present eing: Warden Roupe and Reporter Roule of the Monongahela Publishing Company, Moved by Mr. Flynn, seconded by Mr. Paluso, that Judge Gladden be elected Chairman of the Prison Board. Motion carried by unanimous vote cast by the Board, signifying their approval bally, by stating "Aye. " Moved by Mr. Costa, seconded by Mr. Elish, that Alex Debreczeni be retained as Vice -Chairman of the Prison Board and J. V. 'Murphy be retained as Secretary of the Prison Board. Motion carried by unanimous vote cast by the Board, signifying their approval rbally, by stating "Aye. It Chairman asked if there were any corrections, additions, or omissions to Minute o. 12-P, dated December 20, 1972, each member of the Board having received a copy. JOHN MAZZA, COMMISSIONERS Warden also reported that he has the inmates working on painting the roof of the prison. state inspector visited the jail and suggested that a sprinkler system be installed over the ep-fry in the jail's kitchen. (Neither the commissioners or the warden have received any espondence about installing this sprinkler system, as yet). Moved by Judge Curran, seconded by Mr. Elish, that the following present ployees of the Washington County Prison be retained: Hanna Johns, Deputy Warden Henry Witzeling, Captain Edward Petras, Captain Abraham Zahand, Lieutenant Anthony Kij-owski, Sergeant Clyde Gregg, Sergeant Robert Lemmon, Guard Elmer Williams, Guard James Shoman, Guard Carl Kolick, Guard Herbert Fenton, Guard Albert Pipik, Guard Charles Sofsky, Guard Kenneth Wade, Guard Martin Harris, Guard Frank Valla, Guard Edna Shives, Matron Alverta Denson, Assistant Matron Robert Evans, Psychologist Dennis Walters, Counselor Mary Florganic, Secretary George Derry, Cook Motion carried by unanimous vote cast by the Board, signifying their approval , by stating "Aye. If Prison Bills for the Month of December 1972: Prison bills for the month of December 1972 were read by Controller Elish in the amount of $3427.74 (2681 Prison Days); a list of said bills attached hereto and made a part ereof. Moved by Mr. Jones, seconded by Mr. Elish, that the bills be approved for paym Motion carried by unanimous vote cast by the Board, signifying their approval verbally, by stating Aye. A discussion was held by the Board on the subject of overtime for the prison guar ch was discussed at the last meeting. The Warden stated that he was going to try to resolve s problem by cutting down the personnel as much as he can this coming year. Meeting adjourned.
