BEVEC, JOHN MAZZA, COMMISMOSERS 1 C n .Wr ".'» - Minute No. 5-P Office of the County Commissioners Washington, Pa., May 15, 1974 The Prison Board of the County of Washington met in the Public Meeting Room at 11:30 a.m. , Wednesday, May 15, 1974, with the following members being present: Chairman Debreczetii; Commissioner Flynn; Judge Gladden; Commissioner Jones; Mr. Mascara - Controller; Commissioner Paluso; Judge Simmons and Warden Roupe. Judge Hanna; Absent being: District Attorney Costa; Judge DiSalle/and Judge Sweet. Also present being: Deputy Controller Daniels; Earl Bugaile - WKEG and Mr. Bob Robertson of the Observer -Reporter. Chairman asked if there wereany corrections, additions, or omissions to Minute No. 4-P, dated April 17, 1974, each member of the Board having received a copy. Moved by Judge Gladden, seconded by Mr. Jones, that Minute No. 4�P stand approved, as circulated. Motion carried by unanimous vote cast by the Board signifying their approval verbally by stating "Aye." Remarks: Chairman suggested that if the time set for the Prison Board is not an appropriate time that it be changed. Warden's Report: Warden Roupe informed the Board that everything is okay at the Prison. Prison Bills for the Month of April, 1974: Prison Bills for the month of April, 1974, were read by Controller Mascara in the amount of $6, 171. 66 (2716 Prison Days), Income from units for use of the County Prison amounted to $2033.33. Mr. Mascara gave some percentages on some of the expeditures: 67% - Groceries 13% - Medical 11% - Repairs and Supplies 9% - Other Mr. Mascara further stated the the average cost per prisoner at the Prison, per day, gs $2. 27. Moved by Judge Simmons, seconded by Mr. Jones, that the bills be approved for payment. Motion carried by unanimous vote cast by the Board signifying their approval verbally by stating "Aye." FLYNN, JOHN P. BEVEC, JOHN MAZZA, COMMISSIONERS the methods of purchasing food for the County Jail. He stated that Mr. Lebder, Fayette County Commissioner stated that the Fayette County Commissioners tried to advertise for bids for purchasing food for their Jail and that they didn't even receive one bid. Mr. Fla nn stated that he did want it to be known that the Commissioners did try. Mr. Mascara stated that the Controller's Office has also done some studies on food pur- chasing for the Prison. (Discussion was held) Judge Gladden: How does the County purchase food for the Prison? Mr. Mascara: We are buying at random. New Business: Mr. Mascara: I would at this time like to make a recommendation that the Board get together with the Warden and the Judges, at random, and prepare pre-exitt interviews with the prisoners.
