BEVEC, JOHN MAZZA, COMMISSIONERS 0 u NO. 14 Office of the County Commissioners Washington, Pa., April 4, 1968 Board of County Commissioners met in regular session with the following members being present: Commissioners Flynn, Bevec and Mazza. Also present being: County Solicitor Capano, Chief Clerk Kittridge, Deputy Controller Whalen, Public Information Officer Huber and Reporter Robertson. Meeting called to order by Chairman and roll call taken: Mr. Bevec - Present; Mr. Mazza - Present; Mr. Flynn - Present. Chairman asked if there were any corrections, additions or omis - sions to Minute No. 13, each Commissioner having received a copy. be approved, as read. Moved by Mr. Mazza, seconded by Mr. Flynn, that Minute No. 13 Roll call vote taken: Mr. Bevec - Yes; Mr. Mazza - Yes; Mr. Flynn - Yes. Motion carried unanimously. Old Business: Request for a sixty (60) day leave of absence, as submitted by Louis Turko, an employee of the Washington County Bridge Department; per minute No. 12 dated March 21, 1968, at which time said request was tabled until such time the Board could consult with the Union Officials. Chairman stated that the Board had recently negotiated the 1968 contract with the Bridge Department, and the above request had been discussed. Moved by Mr. Bevec, seconded by Mr. Mazza, that the request for a Sixty (60)day leave of absence, as submitted by Louis Turko, be rejected. Roll call vote taken: Mr. Bevec - Yes; Mr. Mazza - Yes; Mr. Flynn - Yes. Motion carried unanimously. Reference was made to letter under date of March 18, 1968, from Wayne S. Nichols, Corps of Engineers with regard to theme County engaging the services of an engineer to aid in progressing Unit 2 of the Canonsburg -Houston Reach of the Chartiers Creek Flood Control Project, from a local standpoint; the Board made note that Special Counsel Zeman was scheduled to meet with the Board following the regular Board meeting. Washington County Planning Commission: Ronald Bovetsky Washington County Home and Hospital for Men: Appointments: Bobbie Sensky Roll call vote taken: effective March 25, 1968 effective March 7, 1968 Mr. Bevec - Yes; Mr. Mazza - Yes; Mr. Flynn - Yes. Motion carried unanimously. Moved by Mr. Bevec, seconded by Mr. Mazza, that Sue Smith be appointed as a clerk in the Tax Assessment Office; this action to be effective March 25, 1968. Roll call vote taken: Mr. Bevec - Yes; Mr. Mazza - Yes; Mr. Flynn - Yes. Motion carried unanimously. Moved by Mr. Bevec, seconded by Mr. Mazza, that Robert J. M be appointed as Social Worker I, with the Washington County Child Welfare Services; this action to be effective April 22, 1968. Budget Request: Roll call vote taken: Mr. Bevec - Yes; Mr. Mazza - Yes; Mr. Flynn - Yes. Motion carried unanimously. Letter under date of March 27, 1968,, from Edward J. Woods, County Agricultural Agent, requested budget allocation in the amount of $5, 000. 00 due the Washing- ton County Agriculture and Home Economics Extension Association. Letter under date of March 29, 1968, from Craig H. Fluent, Acting Commissioner, Department of Public Welfare, Office of General and Special Hospitals, acknowledged receipt of letter dated March 22, 1968 from the Chairman of the Board, in which application for 1969 funds under the Federal Hospital and Medical Facility Cons and Modernization Program, was made; letter stated that the letter had been placed on file for future consideration and that when the priority lists for the 1969 State Plan are prepared applicants in service areas with good priority position may be asked for more information or conferences may be arranged; the Board made note that the County had met all federal and state requirements with regard to funds for the new county home and hospital and they had been informed sometime ago that the County of Washington had top priority and funds could be expected sometime in November of 1967; however, since that time numerous letter
