Board of County Commissioners met in regular session with the following
members being present: Commissioners Bevec, Mazza and Flynn. Also present being:
County Solicitor Capano, Chief Clerk Kittridge, Mr. Gillespie of the Washington -Greene
County Community Action Corporation, Public Information Officer Huber.
Meeting called to order by Chairman and roll call taken:
Mr. Bevec - Present; Mr. Mazza - Present; Mr. Flynn - Present.
Chairman asked if there were any corrections, additions or omissions to
Minute No. 45, each Commissioner having received a copy.
Moved by Mr. Bevec; seconded by Mr. Mazza; that Minute No. 45 be
approved, as read.
Roll call vote taken:
Mr. Bevec - Yes; Mr. Mazza - Yes; Mr. Flynn - Yes.
Motion carried unanimously.
Old Business: None.
Reporter Lilley of the Daily Notes and Mrs. Amor Flenniken, Director of the Washington
County Tax Claim Bureau entered the meeting.
Appointments:
Moved by Mr. Bevec; seconded by Mr. Mazza; that Mary M. Crable (Mrs.)
be appointed as Homemaker (probationary status) in the Washington County Child Welfare
Services; this action to be effective December 2, 1968.

Motion carried unanimously.
Moved by Mr. Bevec; seconded by Mr. Mazza; that Stephanie Rizor (Mrs.)
be appointed as Secretary to the Department of Parks and Recreation; this action to be
effective December 2, 1968. (replacement)

read letter under date of December 9, 1968, from John F. Cromwell,
Director of the Washington County Planning Commission, informing the Board that an award
of $30, 000 had been granted by the Board of View on the William M. Caldwell property,
Cross Creek County 'ark; our appraisers feel that the value of said property is $18, 500 -
recommendation -.that an appeal be made from the award.
Moved by Mr. Bevec; seconded -by Mr. Mazza; that the award in the amount
of $30, 000. 00 granted by the Board of View with regard to the William M. Caldwell property;
Cross Creek County Park; be appealed; motion made upon the recommendation of John F.
Cromwell, Director of the Washington County Planning Commission:

Chief Clerk presented a request as submitted by the Controller's Office
concerning the Court House being closed on December 31st at 12: 00 Noon to enable the
orderly closing of the Treasurer's and Controller's Office for the end of the year; this
action will enable the Treasurer to make deposits of all income received and will enable
the Controller's Office to audit the cash account of the Treasurer as soon as the Treasurer
clears his bank deposits. This was done last year (1967) and was most successful. ,
Chairman suggested that both the Christmas and New Year Holiday start
at 12: 00 Noon, on the Tuesday before each holiday. _
Moved by Mr. Bevec; seconded by Mr. Mazza; that the Court House
close for business at 12: 00 Noon on Tuesday, December 24th until 9:00 a. m. Thursday,
December 26th in observance of the. Christmas holiday; and to close for business at 12: 00
Noon on Tuesday, December 31st until 9: 00 a. m. , Thursday, January 2nd, 1969, in ob -
servance of the New Year Holiday.

Reporter Robertson entered the meeting.
Mr. Whalen reported that the Controller's Office had audited the Tax
Collections for 1967 and also the liened taxes turned over to the Tax Claim Bureau, of the
Treasurer's Office and they are in order.
Mr. Kittridge: This exonerates the County Treasurer for 1967 - this is for both the
personal property and real estate.
Reporter Liesch of the Brownsville - Telegraph entered the meeting.
Moved by Mr. Bevec; seconded by Mr. Mazza; that certification be made
for Russell Marino, that he has paid over or accounted for according to law the whole
amount of taxes,, penalties and interest received and collected that were assessed in the
duplicate for the year 1967, and all prior duplicates; that he has been granted exonerations
in accordance with the laws of Pennsylvania.

Mrs. Flenniken, Director of the Washington County Tax Claim Bureau,
presented various private bids to the Board for approval; said bids having been approved
