BEVEC, JOHN MAZZA, COMMISSIONERS -- -- ------ _-it_- . NO. 1 'Office of the County Commissioners Washington, Pa. , January 6, 196 Michael R. Flynn, John P. Bevec and John Mazza, elected County Commissioner of Washington County, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, at the Municipal Election held on the first Tuesday after the first Monday of November, 1963, met in the Office of the Count Commissioners in the Courthouse, in the City of Washington, Pennsylvania, at 11:00 a. m. , Monday, January 6, 1964, being the first Monday of January following the said election, for the purpose of assuming their offices, their respective bonds having been approved and filed with the County Controller, and the oaths of office of the said County Commissioners subscribed to before the Court of Common Pleas at 10:00 a. m. , of the said Monday, Jaruat7 6, 1964, and filed with the Prothonotary as required by the Act of Asembly. Also present at this meeting were: Controller Elish, Reporter Crouse, Messrs. Capano, Debreczeni and Bradshaw, and a number of other visitors. Mr. Mazza: I want to thank the majority Commissioners for extending the courtesy to me as Acting Chairman for this re-organization meeting and I shall now call the meeting to order. The election is over and I want to state my position as minority commissioner of the Board. I am here willing to serve and do everything possible to have a successful n administration and I want to be a party to industrial development, creating more jobs; efficiency and economy in County Government and a sensible flood control program and park program under Project 70, as our goals. Mr. Flynn: Before the Board is officially re-organized, I want to say that we (Mr. Bevec and myself) have made no commitments to any group or individual and we intend to do a good job for this County. The majority party is the responsible party on the Board and it is the duty of the majority commissioners to hire, good, competent people. Mr. Bevec: I am glad to be back in Washington County, having worked here in various capacities and I shall make every effort possible to keep the promises made in the Primar 7 and General Elections, that is that honesty and economy will be practiced in our County. We know that many things have to be changed not for the party but for the people. Every effort shall be made to ,get,, new industries into our County which will create more jobs and we shall take advantage of the Federal Works Program. Motion by Mr. Bevec, seconded by Mr. Mazza, that Michael R. Flynn, be appointed as Chairman of the Board of County Commissioners. MINUTE BOOK BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS WASHINGTON COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA MICHAEL R. FLYNN, JOHN P. SEVEC, JOHN MAZZA, COMMISSIONERS Motion carried unanimously. Motion by Mr. Flynn, seconded by Mr. Mazza, that John P. Bevec, be appointed ias Secretary of the Board of County Commissioners. Motion carried unanimously. Motion by Mr. Bevec, seconded by Mr. Flynn, that Alex Debreczeni, Jr. , be rappointed as Chief Clerk to the County Commissioners, this action to be effective January 1, 1964. Motion carried unanimously. Motion by Mr. Flynn, seconded by Mr. Bevec, that A. V. Capano, Esc , be appointed as County Solicitor, this action to be effective January 1, 1964. l I (Question on the motion: Mr. Mazza inquired of Mr. Capano - "Do you plan to devote your full time to the County CCommissioners as County Solicitor?" Mr. Capano replied: "Yes, also for the benefit of the people of Washington County. " I f Motion carried unanimously. f Mr. Capano presented the Board with the following Agreement which is hereby I Imade a part of the minutes: I AGREEMENT I hereby stipulate and agree, in accordance with the provisions of the County Code of 1955, Section 901, to pay all fees, attorney's fees, and commissions received by me from every source, as County Solicitor, into the County Treasury.
