BEVEC, JOHN MAZZA, COMMISSIONERS NO. 41 Office of the County Commissioners Washington, Pa., July 2, 1964 Board of County Commissioners met in regular session with the following members being present: Commissioners Flynn and Bevec. Absent being Commissioner Mazza. Also present being County Solicitor Capano, Chief Clerk Debreczeni, Reporters Crouse and Merdian. roll call taken: Meeting called to order by Chairman of the Board, Mr. Flynn, and Mr. Mazza - Absent; Mr. Bevec - Present; Mr. Flynn - Present. Chairman asked if there were any corrections, additions or omissions to Minute No. 40, each commissioner having received a copy. Motion by Mr. Bevec, seconded by Mr. Flynn, that Minute No. 40 be approved as read. Roll call vote taken: Mr. Bevec - Yes; Mr. Flynn - Yes. Motion carried. New Business: Mr. Flynn: As you gentlemen know, we are starting on a 40 hour work week at the County Homes the first of July. Motion by Mr. Bevec, seconded by Mr. Flynn, that all employees of the Washington County Home and Hospital for Men and the Washington County Home for Aged Women, be employed on the basis of 40 hours per week; this action to be effective July 1, 1964. Roll call vote taken: Mr. Bevec - Yes; Mr. Flynn - Yes. Motion carried. Motion by Mr. Bevec, seconded by Mr. Flynn, that the following be appointed to the positions as indicated opposite their names at the Washington County Home and Hospital for Men; this action to be effective July 1, 1964. Motion by Mr. Bevec, seconded by Mr. Flynn, that the resignation as submitted by Albina Belsenti, Clerk in the Tax Claim Bureau, be accepted effective July 1, 1964. Roll call vote taken: Mr. Bevec - Yes; Mr. Flynn - Yes. Motion carried. Mr. Flynn: For the record, I have a certified Copy of the Order received from the Department of Public Instruction concerning the union of the school district to be known as the Canon -MacMillan School System in Washington County and certifying the returns of the election held in Canonsburg Borough, Cecil Township, ancj North Strabane Township on the question of the school districts being united in a union school system. The returns from this election were favorable to the formation of said system. Motion by Mr. Bevec, seconded by Mr. Flynn, that the Board of I Commissioners approve an Agreement with Ewing Minor of Washington, Pennsylvania, for the leasing of a building located at 2125 North Main Street Extension, Chartiers Township, Washington County, Pennsylvania, for the storage of surplus food commodities. Lease agreement for a period of three months, beginning the first of July, 1964, and ending the thirtieth day of September, 1964, at the rate of $35.00 per month. Copy of lease on file iz the Office of the Chief Clerk, r Roll call vote taken: Mr. Bevec - Yes; Mr. Flynn - Yes. Motion carried. Mr. Debreczeni brought to the Board Is .attention the applications for County Aid from Liquid Fuels Funds of the Borough of Coal Center and the Borough of Cokeburg which were filed with other municipalities and both are entitled to approximately E 1 $500 each. BEVEC, JOHN MAZZA, COMMISSIONERS boroughs. The corrected applications have been returned and should be placed on file in the Office of the County Engineer. Motion by Mr. Bevec, seconded by Mr. Flynn, that the qpplications for County Aid from Liquid Fuels Funds, received from the Boroughs of Coal Center and Cokeburg, be placed on the list which is on file in the Office of the County Engineer. Roll call vote taken: Mr. Bevec - Yes; Mr. Flynn - Yes. Motion carried. Motion by Mr. Bevec, seconded by Mr. Flynn, that the Tax Assess- ment Office be authorized to prepare the following tax refunds due to either duplication or overpayment of real estate or personal property tax. 1. Plants, Burson R. & Alma, R. D. 1, Claysville, Pennsylvania, for duplicate payment of 1963 County Tax. On July 31, 1963, tax was paid in the amount of $22. 12 on property situate in East Finley Township, Washington County, Pennsylvania, desc- ribed as 1 1/2 story frame house, buildings, 4.08 acres surface, total valuation - $1900 and $200 occupation. Payment was duplicated on August 1, 1963, in the amount of $22. 12, therefore, a refund is due in the amount of $22. 12 to said owners. 2. Prata, William & Yvonne, Box 101, Bulger, Pennsylvania, for overpayment of 1962 County Tax. On August 1, 1962, tax was paid in the amount of $52.95 on property situate in Smith Township, Washington County, Pennsylvania, described as 1 story stucco house, garage, 1 acre surface, total valuation $4350 and $200 occupation. Correction slip dated September 7, 1962, reduced the valuation to $3150 real estate and $200 occupation and tax to $38.52 net, therefore a refund is due in the amount of $14.43 to said owners. 3. Johnson, Dudley R. c/o Kings County Trust Company Agent, 342 Fulton Street, Brooklyn 1, New York, for overpayment of 1961, 1962, and 1963 personal property taxes. Credit is due Mr. Johnson for the years 1961, 1962, and 1963 in the amount of $3190.95. Total tax due for the years 1959, 19'60, and 1964 is $3066.75. The total amount of refund was decreased by giving this account credit on the 1964 personal property return and the delinquent 1959 and 1960 returns which were recently filed in the personal property department. Therefore; a refund is due in the amount of $124.20 to Dudley R. Johnson, c/o Kings County Trust Company Agent. Roll call vote taken: Mr. Bevec - Yes; Mr. Flynn - Yes. Motion carried. Motion by Mr. Bevec, seconded by Mr. Flynn, that the Washington County Commissioners in regular session hereby authorize Mr. John Cromwell, Executive Director of the Washington County Planning Commission, to proceed immediately to secure the necessary data relating to Project 70, Land Acquisition Program, in order that Washington County may perticipate in this program for which $20, 000, 000. 00 has been provided, to assist political subdivisions to acquire open land for recreational, historical, and conservational purposes for their own communities while such lands are still available.
