BEVEC, JOHN MAZZA, COMMISSIONERS Certified check in the amount of $741.00 is herewith enclosed. JUDSON -WILEY & SONS 404 South Main Street Washington, Pennsylvania Motion by Mr. Bevec, seconded by Mr. Mazza, that all bids be tabled in order that the Solicitor and Purchasing Agent can make a complete study of all bids. The awarding or rejecting of the contract to be made on Thursday, September 17, 1964, at 10:00 a. m. , or shortly thereafter. be adjourned. Also present being: Chief Clerk Debreczeni, Jr., Solicitor Capano, Purchasing Agent Kittridge, Mr. Bradshaw and Reporter Crouse. Meeting called to order by Chairman and roll call taken: Mr. Mazza - Present; Mr. Bevec - Present; Mr. Flynn - Present. Chairman asked if there were any corrections, additions or omissions to Minute No. 50, each commissioner having received a copy. be approved as read. Motion by Mr. Mazza, seconded by Mr. Bevec, that Minute No. 50, Roll call vote taken: Mr. Mazza - Yes; Mr. Bevec - Yes; Mr. Flynn - Yes. Motion carried unanimously. Mr. Kittridge, Purchasing Agent, stated that he had a letter from the Harmon Creek Coal Corporation, in which they state that they are withdrawing their coal bid on the delivery of coal to the Washington County Courthouse, Jail and Washington County Home for Aged Women, for the reason that their supply of this particular type of coal is 208 MINUTE BOOK BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS WASHINGTON COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA MICHAEL R. BEVEC,"JOHN MAZZA, COMMISSIONERS limited and feel that they will not be in a position to maintain the supply, but wish to be considered in bidding for the coal delivery for the Washington County Home and Hospital I for Men. Motion by Mr. Bevec, seconded by. Mr. Mazza, that since Harmon Creek Coal Corporation has withdrawn their bid for coal delivery to the Washington County Court- house, Jail and Washington County Home for Aged Women, that the contract be awarded to Judson Wiley and Sons, 404 South Main Street, Washington, Pennsylvania, they being the lowest responsible bidder. The contract for coal delivery to the Washington County Home and Hospital for Men, be awarded to the Harmon Creek Coal Corporation, 1608 First National Bank Building, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, they being the lowest responsible bidder. $7. 00 per ton including delivery - Washington County Courthouse and Jail. Judson Wiley and Sons. $8. 50 per ton including delivery - Washington County Home for Aged Women. Judson Wiley and Sons. $7. 09 per ton including delivery - Washington County'Home and Hospital for Men. Harmon Creek Coal Corp. Roll call vote taken: Mr. Mazza - Yes; Mr. Bevec - Yes; Mr. Flynn - Yes. I Motion carried unanimously. Motion by Mr. Bevec, seconded by Mr. Mazza, that the County _i Commissioners agree to lease two hangars to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Military Affairs, for the amount of $150.00 per hangar per month, or a total of $300.00 per month. The lease is effective October 1, 1964, for a term of two years with an option to renew for one year at the end of the term. Solicitor to review lease and approve. Roll call vote taken: Mr. Mazza - Yes; Mr. Bevec - Yes; Mr. Flynn - Yes. Motion carried unanimously. Correspondence: Mr. Flynn: 1. September 9, 1964, Dr. Bowman, County Superintendent of Schools, expressing appreciation for efforts of Commissioners in attempting to solve critical water situation in the Avella Area Joint Schools. 2. Resignation submitted by John Banko, effective September 16, 1964. 3. September 11, 1964, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Mines and Mineral Industries, H. B. Charmbury, Secretary. Acknowledging letter re: Industrial wastes being dumped into active stripping operation in parts of Hanover and Smith Townships. Motion by Mr. Bevec, seconded by Mr. Mazza, that Willis L. Clutter, The appointed Head Dairyman replacing Harold Ward, at the Washington County Home and Hospital for Men; this action to be effective September 11, 1964. Roll call vote taken: I Mr. Mazza - Yes; Mr. Bevec - Yes; Mr. Flynn - Yes. 1 C Motion carried unanimously. MINUTE BOOK 209 BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS WASHINGTON COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA MICHAEL R. FLYNN, JOHN P. BEVEC, JOHN MAZZA. COMMISSIONERS Motion by Mr. Bevec, seconded by Mr. Mazza, that Diane Dolores Clark, be transferred from the Tax Assessment Office (Account No. 105) to the Solicitor's Office (Account No. 102); this action to be effective September 16, 1964. Roll call vote taken: Mr. Mazza - Yes; Mr. Bevec - Yes; Mr. Flynn - Yes. Motion carried unanimously. Reporter Merdian entered the meeting. Motion by Mr. Bevec, seconded by Mr. Mazza, that Larry Rinaldi, be appointed Fireman at the Boiler Room (Courthouse) replacing John Charles Craig; this action to be effective September 16, 1964. Roll call vote taken: Mr. Mazza - Yes; Mr. Bevec - Yes; Mr. Flynn - Yes. Motion carried unanimously.. Motion by Mr. Bevec, seconded by Mr. Mazza, that Mary Bistarky, be appointed Kitchen Helper at the Washington County Home and Hospital for Men replacing Jean Roberts; this action to be effective September 16, 1964. Roll call vote taken: Mr. Mazza - Yes; Mr. Bevec - Yes; Mr. Flynn - Yes. Motion carried unanimously. Motion by Mr. Bevec, seconded by Mr. Mazza, that John Yuhas, be transferred from the Tax Assessment Office (Account No. 105) to the Engineer's Office (Account No. 111); this action to be effective September 16, 1964. Roll call vote taken: Mr. Mazza - Yes; Mr. Bevec - Yes; Mr. Flynn - Yes. Motion carried unanimously. Motion by Mr. Bevec, seconded by Nor. Mazza, that James Jones, be transferred from the Surplus Food Office (Account No. 331) to the County Home (Account No. 303); this action to be effective September 16, 1964. Roll call vote taken: Mr. Mazza - Yes; Mr. Bevec - Yes; Mr. Flynn - Yes. Motion carried unanimously. Mr. Flynn: I feel that the County should participate in the Anti -Poverty Program Bill Work Training Programs Operated under Title 1 Part B of the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964, and that we should appoint someone to prepare whatever material is necessary, Motion by Mr. Bevec, seconded by Mr. Mazza, that Charles Gillespie be designated as the man to prepare the necessary material and data in order that we (County of Washington) may participate in the Work Training Programs.
