BEVEC, JOHN MAZZA, COMMISSIONERS Roll call vote taken: Mr. Mazza - Yes; Mr. Bevec - Yes; Mr. Flynn - Yes. Mr. Bevec: I would like to discuss the United Fund Drive. In other counties, i industries, and State offices, the employees have the opportunity to use the payroll deduct- ion plan for making contributions to the United Fund. That money which is contributed to i this drive by, employees living out of the City of Washington will be turned over to their community. s Motion by Mr. Bevec, seconded by Mr. Mazza, that personnel of the E County be permitted to participate by the payroll deduction plan to the United Fund Drive. adjourned. Also present being: Chief Clerk Debreczeni, Jr., Solicitor Capano, Mr. Sittler of the Washington County Taxpayers' Association and Reporter Crouse. Meeting called to order by Chairman and roll call taken: Mr. Mazza - Present; Mr. Bevec - Present; Mr. Flynn - Present. Chairman asked if there were any corrections, additions or omissions to Minute No. 51, each commissioner having received a copy. i be approved as read. Motion by Mr. Mazza, seconded by Mr. Bevec, that Minute No. 51, Roll call vote taken: Mr. Mazza - Yes; Mr. Bevec - Yes; Mr. Flynn - Yes. Motion carried unanimously. Full reports from West Penn Power Company and Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania, Inc., on file in Office of Chief Clerk. Report forthcoming from coal company. Reporter Merdian entered the meeting. 2. Request for certification of Annual General Inspection - Lt. Col. Joseph Lynn. Annual inspection of the following units were conducted on dates indicated as required by the National Defense Act, as amended, by representatives of the Commanding General, Second United States Army. A, 1 st Bn, 110th Inf 21 Oct 63 Co B, Lst Bn, 110th Inf 24 Oct 63 Co B, 28th Aviation Bn 26 Oct 63 Rating Satisfactory Satisfactory Excellent Excellent Excellent Motion by Mr. Bevec, seconded by Mr. Mazza, that the County Controller be authorized to prepare a voucher in the amount of $1, 500. 00 for the five National Guard Units in Washington County (listed in Lt. Col. Joseph Lynn's letter, also paragraph above). Commissioners having received certification of a successful annual gene cal inspection for said units. Motion made in accordance with the County Code for Fourth ClaG:s Counties, Article XIX, Section 1902, entitled "Appropriation for Maintenance of National Guard." Roll call vote taken: Mr. Mazza - Yes; Mr, Bevec - Yes; Mr. Flynn - Yes. Motion carried unanimously. 3. Request for leave of absence - John Gobleck, Bridge Department employee. Motion by Mr. Bevec, seconded by Mr. Flynn, that John Gobleck, employee of the Washington County Bridge Department, be granted a sixty-day leave of absence beginning September 21, 1964. Roll call vote taken: Mr. Mazza - Yes; Mr. Bevec - Yes; Mr. Flynn - Yes. Motion carried unanimously. Mr. Gillespie, Budget Director, entered the meeting. 4. Letter under date of September 2, 1964, from Secretary of Department of Forests and Waters, Maurice K. Goddard, in re: Mr. McAmbley's letter dated August 12, 1964, concerning the Chartiers Creek Flood Protection Project - Canonsburg -Houston reach. Letter outlines Mr. Goddard's viewpoints on the plan as prepared by the Corps of Engineers, also_ makes various comment.. on the proposals offered by Mr. McAmbley as to alternatives which may be used in order to expedite the construction of a flood protection project. Also, that further and continued meetings with the Congressional Delegation in Washington are advisable be- fore arranging for a definite appointment with him to discuss the entire program. Original letter on file with the Office of the Redevelopment Authority of the County of Washington and a copy oil file in the Office of the Chief Clerk to the County Commissioners.
