BEVEC, JOHN MAZZA, COMMISSIONERS Roll call vote taken: Mr. Mazza - Yes; Mr. Flynn - Yes. Motion carried unanimously. Mr. Flynn: The Board of Commissioners acknowledge receipt of the American Flag and the Pennsylvania State Flag as a gift to the citizens of Washington County by Judge Barron P. McCune. Chief Clerk to send letter thanking Judge McCune on behalf of the citizens of Washington County. Also, that the Board compliments Mr. Jack Crouse, columnist and courthouse reporter, for the Washington Observer and Reporter on his new promotion as Editor of the Editorial Page of the Observer, and welcomes Mr. Robert L. Robertson as the new courthouse reporter. Moved by Mr. Mazza, seconded by Mr. Flynn, that this meeting be adjourned. Meeting adjourned. Also present being: Solicitor Capano, Chief Clerk Debreczeni, Jr., Budget Director Gillespie, Mr. Umstead of the Pennsylvania Economy League, Mr. Kenneth Yablonski and Reporter Robertson. Meeting called to order by Chairman and roll call taken: Mr. Mazza - Present; Mr. Bevec - Present; Mr. Flynn - Present. Chairman asked if there were any corrections, additions or omissions to Minute No. 74, each Commissioner having received a copy. Moved by Mr. Bevec, seconded by Mr. Mazza, that Minute No. 74, be approved as read. Roll call vote taken: Mr. Mazza - Yes; Mr. Bevec - Yes; Mr. Flynn - Yes. , Motion carried unanimously. Mr. Yablonski had been asked by the Commissioners of East Bethlehem Township to inform the Board of two parcels of property taken for taxes by the County. Mr. Flynn: We will have to get permission from the School District and the Municipality and we will have the Tax Claim Bureau check into this. Mr. Yablonski replied that he would get permission from the School District and the Township. ! i � 4 Mr. Yablonski left the meeting. I Communications: None I i Appointments: Moved by Mr. Bevec, seconded by Mr. Mazza, that Mildred Ivery be appointed as Secretary in the Office of the Chief Clerk; this action to be effective March 1, 1965. Chief Clerk Debreczeni, Jr, presented a list of Field Registration Days submitted by the Registration Office for the Board's approval. Remarks: Mr. Mazza: I would like to make a request for a registration day in Cecil Township:. Mr. Bevec: There is a question on this. Roll call vote taken: Mr. Mazza - Yes; Mr. Bevec - Yes; Mr. Flynn - Yes. Motion carried unanimously. Moved by Mr. Bevec, seconded by Mr. Mazza, that the following Personal Property Tax refund be made to cover a portion of the 1964 Personal Property Tax paid on June 24, 1964. On February 15, 1964, Elizabeth T. McVitty, R. D. 1, Washington, Pennsylvania, filed her Personal Property Tax return in our County. One of the items listed was 500 sh Tiffiny Products which was not quoted in the stock books and should have been marked "worthless" on her return. Instead, a stock with a similar name - Tiffany & Company was erroneously substituted with a valuation per share of $34.25. The 500 shares of Tiffany & Company were carried forward with a total valuation of $17, 125. 00. The tax on this amount is $68. 50 less $3.43 discount - $65.07. Since Mrs. McVitty never owned the stock for which she had been taxed, a refund is requested in the amount of $65.07. Roll call vote taken: Mr. Mazza - Yes; Mr. Bevec - Yes; Mr. Flynn - Yes. Motion carried unanimously. A letter was received by Mr. Gillespie, Budget Director, from the Redevelopment Authority of the County of Washington under date of March 3, 1965, request•- ing their first quarterly payment in the amount of $7, 500. 00 against their 1965 County Budget. Also, a letter from the Washington -Greene County Tourist Promotion Agency was received requesting an allocation of $4, 144. 00 ( 1/4 of the annual appropriation).
