Motion by Mr. Cumminss seconded by Mr. Kassa, that the County Solicitor file exceptions to the order of Judge Weiner dated June 16, 1961, raising the salary of the Probation' Officer., Alex Debreczeni, of the Domestic Relations Divisions adjourned. N©. 150 Motion carried unanimously. There being no further business to come before the Board at this tine, the meeting - - -13 -3- - office of the County Commissioners Washington, Pa., June 27, 1961 Board of County Commissioners met in special session those present beings Commissioners Pettit, Cummins and Mazza. Motion by Mr. Cummins, seconded by Mr. Mazza, that the following resolution,re- questing service of the state civil service commission for Washington County, Pennsylvania, be adopteds WHEWAS, the County of washington, Pennsylvania, desires to participate in the Federal Contributions Program for Civil Defense Personnel and Administrative Expenses, as au#th- prized under the provisions of the Federal Civil Defense Act of 1950 (Public Lax 920 - $1st Congress), as amended; MffAiFAS, employment of the said political subdivisions civil defense personnel under an approved merit system is a federally prescribed prerequisite to participation in the said Federal Contributions Program; WHEFSAS, the State Civil Service Commission is legally authorized to provide merit 164 MINUTE, BOOK BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS WASHINGTON COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIAa FFRANCI5 E. PETTIT, J. 6LATCH CUMMINS, JOHN MAZZA, COMMISSIONERS system services to political subdivisions of the Commonwealth, under the provisions of the Civil Service Act, approved August 5, 1941., P.L. 752, as ascended; WHMVM, political subdivisions of the Commosetealth are legally auth- orized to avail themselves of merit system services offered by the State Civil Service in connection with the employment of personnel for civil defense purposes, under the provisions of Act No. 60, approved April 28, 1961; WHEREAS, officials of the said political subdivision are of the opinion that those merit system requirements prerequisite to participation in the said Federal Contribu- tions Program can most readily be met by the said political subdivision's availing itself of service offered by the State Civil Service Commission; and, finally, WHEREAS, the said political subdivision consequently proposes to avail itself of merit system services offered ty the State Civil Service Commission, in connection wi the employment of personnel for civil defense purposes. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the County of Washington hereby formally requests the State Civil Service Commission to furnish to the said political subdivis; for examination and subsequent appropriate action, an agreement form, a copy of the Civil Sere: Act, together with a copy of the rules promulgated thereunder, and other pertinent information and materials relating to the said Commission's supply of merit system services, in connection with the employment of personnel for civil defense purposes. Motion by Mr. Cummins, seconded by Mr. Mazza, that the County be authorized to advertise for bids for the construction of the Wallace Lane Bridge over Creek. Said bids to be opened at 100 P.M., Wednesday, July 12, 1961, at a meeting of the Board of County Commissioners. Motion carried unanimously. Motion by Mr. Cummins, seconded by Mr. Mazza, that a refund voucher in the amount of $31.94 be payable to John & Kate Sedlak.* 710 Center Avenue, Charleroi, Pennsyl- vania., due to a duplicate payment of personal property.tax paid on June 9, 1961, for the year 1960. On February 18, 1960, John & Kate Sedlak filed with Washington County their personal property return valued at $6975 and paid their tax to the Tressurertis Office on August 5, 196o. A delinquent tax was filed with the Tax Claim Bureau against John & Sedlak by the Treasurer's Office in May, 1961, for the amount of $30.69 (incl. $2.79 penalty at 10%). The Tau Claire Bureau referred this list to the Personal Property Department for collect; and for final Bening with the Prothonotary'a Office. On June 1, 1961, the Personal Property Department mailed out statements to all persons listed on the Docket, in the amount of $31.94. The Sedlaks on June 9, 1961, paid this statement thus causing a duplicate payment and a refund due in the amount of $31,,94. that tho H 1 Motion carried unanimously.
