BLATCH CUMMINS, JOHN MAZZA, COMMISSIONERS NO. 227 Office of the County Commissioners Washington, Pa., February 19, 1962 Board of County Commissioners met in regular session in the -Office of the County Commissioners those present beings Commissioners Pettit, Cummins, Mazza, County Solieitor Tax Claim Bureau Solicitor Herman, Reporters Crouse and Mardian. Motion by Mr. Mazza, seconded by Mr. Cummines that the following proclamation pro- claiming Saturday, May 5, 1962 as Loyalty Day in Washington County, be adeptedr A PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, by Public Law #85-529 of the 85th Congress, H. J. Res. 479, in joint resolution, July 18, 1958, the House of Representa- tives and the Senate of the United States, May lot of every year, has henceforth been designated as National. Loyalty Darr and approved by the President on July 18, 1958. WHEREAS, it becomes more important each day that our citizens be t reminded of the blessings of this country as that they are od to a fight the inroads of Communism at how.. National Loyalty Day now affords them that opportunity to pr+©cLUm their faith is democratic form of gov- ernment, WHERM.. there arm, continuing efforts to destroy the dignity of man through the suppression of freedom of speeeh, freedom of press and freedom to worship as one chooses; and ? ViERFAS, it is the duty of each American to stand up for that which he believes and that which thousands of Americans have died for on battlefields throughout the world; now i TORE, We, Commissioners of the County of Washington, Comm- onieealth of Pennsylvania, pursuant to the joint resolution of the Congress do hereby proclaim May 5, 1962, as Loyalty Day in the County of Washington, and urge that every man, woman and child join in a public demonstration that will show to the peoples of the world our j undivided devotion to our government and our way of life. We further urge full and complete cooperation by all organizations within our ! County to actively participate in all public Loyalty Day celebrations and to assist the Veterans of Foreign Wars in urging a public display of flags by all or, 4=r Loitizens on May 1. Francis E.
