Washington, Pa., March 12, 1962
Board of County Commissioners met in regular session with the fallowing member being
present: Commissioner Pettit. Also present at this time were County Solicitor Massock and Tag
Claim Bureau Solicitor Hormell.
Because of a lack of a quorum no meeting was held.

Washington, Pa., March 16, 1962
Board of County Commissioners met.in regular session with the following members being
present: Commissioners Pettit, Cummins and Massa, Also present beings County Solicitor Massock
and Tag Claim Bureau Solicitor Hormell.
Brought to the attention of the Commissioners was a letter received from the
County Bar Association stating that on February 26, 1962, a resolution was adopted recommending
to the Judges and County Commissioners that the County employ a member of the Bar Association of
Washington County to act as Public Defender. Said letter was referred to the Solicitor's Office,
Motion by Mr. Cummins, seconded by Mr. Mazza, that a resolution be adopted authorising
the County of Washington to join in the creation of the Chartiers-Panhandle Regional Planning
Commission; and appropriating funds thereof; and appointing representatives to the Commission;
and establishing the terms of appointees and the aunt of contribution by the County of Washing-
ton to the costs. This minute incorporates the form and contents of the resolution of the County
of Washington as adopted hereto and made a part hereof. Also, the resolution in form as prepared
by the Chartiers-Panhandle Regional Planning Commission Articles of Agreement, copy of which is
hereto attached and made a part hereof,
Motion carried unanimously.
Motion by Mr. Cumni.ns, seconded by Mr, Mazza, that a revolution be adopted authorizing
the County of Washington, in cooperation with the Counties of Alleghexgr, Armstrong, Beaver, Butl
and Westmoreland to create a regional planning commission to be known as the"Southwestern Penn-
sylvania Regional Planning Commission", to approve the Articles of .Agreement; appoint certain pe
sons as members of said Platiming Commission; and make an appropriation to said Planning Commissi

Motion carried unanimously.
Motion by Mr. Cummins, seconded by Mr. Mazza, that the meeting be adjourned.
