Motion carried.
Motion by Mr. Mazza, seconded by Mr. Cummins, that Philip L. Escott, Finleyville,
Pennsylvania. be appointed as assessor for the Borough of Finleyville, to fill the vacancy which
now exists due to the resignation of Charles Vickers. Jr.
Motion carried..
Motion by Mr. !Mazza, seconded by Mr. Cummins, that the petition received by the Washing-
ton County Board of Commissioners from the Court of Common Pleas of Fayette County, be referred
to the Election Department and they be directed that the following question:
Shall the School District of the Borough of Brownsville, Fayette County,
Pennsylvania, the School District of the Township of Brownsville, Fayette
County, Pennsylvania and the School District of the Borough of West
Brownsville, Washington County. Pennsylvania, be united into a meger?
is to appear on the ballot at the coming General Election to be held on the 6th day of November,
1962.

Board of County Commissioners met in regular session, those present being Commissioners
Cummins and Mazza. Also present being: Tax Claim Bureau Solicitor Hormell, Chief Clerk Stuart,

Citizen and taxpayer from Peters Township Mr. McCaskey, Reporters Crouse and Merdian.
Motion by Mr. Mazza, seconded by Mr. Cummins, that the Tax Assessment Office be author-
ized to prepare tax refunds for the following due to either duplication or overpayment on real
estate or occupation tax.
1.
Blue Star Potato Chip Corporation, Houston, Penns., overpayment of 1961
County Tax. On July 12, 1%1, the amount of $232.44 was paid, Tax
Adjustment No. 2554 reduced the valuation of property to $20,870.00 and

tax to $203.23, making a refund due in the amount of $29.21.

Sally Williams Green, 500 S. Tenth Street, Moaywood. Illionis. Property
erroneously assessed to Mrs. Green caused a duplicate payment of the
1958 County Tax on property assessed in West Brownsville Borough, Wash-
ington County, Pennsylvania. On August 15, 1958, Mrs. Green paid taxes
in the amount of $11.48 for 1958 County Tax. By correction slip a trans-
fer was made of said property back to the rightful owners who also paid
the 1958 County Tax creating a duplicate payment and a refund due it the
mount of $11.46 to Mrs. Green.

Edwin F. Shumaker, 305 Church Street, Brownsville, Penna. Duplicate payment
of 1961 County Tax. Mr. Shumaker was assessed for property in the Borough
of Centerville also in the Township of West Pike Run, the latter being a
duplication in assessment. On August 1, 1961 tax was paid in the amount of
$12.61 (1961 County Tax) on property situate in Centerville Borough, also
on August 1, 1%1 tax was paid in the amount of $16.65 (1961 CountgtiTax) on
property situate in West Pike Run Township, this assessment and payment of
e
tax being a duplication, t erefore causing a refund due in the amount of
$16.65.

Slovak Beneficial Society. 408 Furlong Avenue. Roscoe, Penna. Over -payment
of 1962 County Tax. On July 19, 1%2 tax was paid in the amount of $87.29
for property situate in Roscoe Borough. Tax adjustment no. 1290 reduced the
valuation to $6,300.00 and tax to $73.32„ aaking a refund due in the amount
of $13.79.
