Pa,, July 30, 1962 Board of County Commissioners met in special session with the following members being present: Commissioners Cummins and Mazza. I Motion carried. jTHE FOREGOING MINUTE READ AND APPROVED September 28, 1%2 ATTEST: ,rc Chief C1 k NO. 273 Office of the County Commissioners I Washington, Pa., August 3, 1962 x Board of County Commissioners met in regular session with the following members being present: Commissioners Pettit, Cummins and Mazza. Also present being: Tax Claim Bureau Solicitor Hornell, Reporters Crouse and Merdian. The Commissioners had a general discussion concerning the collection of County Taxes, (there being a controversy over the collection of taxes between Controller Elish and Treasurer Stuart, Treasurer being surcharged by the Controller for failure to turn over to the County the amount of $25.000.00 in delinquent tax penalties for the years 1960 and 1961. Washington County collects taxes under the Venango Act. Motion by Mr. Cummins, seconded by Mr. Mazza, that the County Solicitor be instructed 1 1 -, to investiage the letter of Park H. Martin, Secretary of Highways, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, dated July 25, 1962, possibility of having the interchange of the Interstate Highway 70, on the MINUTE BOOK 347 BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS WASHIN13TON COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA FRANCIS E. PET TIT, J. BLATCH CUMMINSJOHN MAZZA, COMMISSIONERS _ west side of Washington, Pennsylvania, named "Jessop Steel Company Interchange" after the Jessop Steel Company which is located in Washington, Pennsylvania. Motion carried unanimously. Motion by Mr. Cummins, seconded by Mr. Mazza, that the County Controller be authorized to transfer $13,706.48 from the Chartiers Creek Flood Control Project Fund, this being the're- maining money in said fund) to the General Fund. Motion carried unanimously. Motion by Mr. Cummins, seconded by Mr. Mazza, that the County Controller be authorized to transfer the amount of $11,792.00 from the Washington County Institution District Funding and Improvement Bond Fund to the General Fund. Motion carried unanimously. Motion by Mr. Cummins, seconded by Mr. Mazza, that a letter be sent to the American Steel and Wire Division of the U.S. Steel (Donors, Pennsylvania) to try to obtain a "statement of intent" from the company as to future use of the plant site and facilities located in Donors, Pennsylvania. Motion carried unanimously. The Chief Clerk's Office was instructed to obtain the following: 1. Report from the Engineer's Office showing the completion date of the Daisytown Bridge located in Coal Center and California Borough.) 2. Price list of all steel which was removed from the Donors Webster Bridge, Gist to be prepard by Engineer's Office. 3. History of the Jessop Steel Company. 4. Write a letter to City of Washington reminding them of their payment of $20,000.00 which is overdue. This is in accordance with the Agreement entered into between the City of Washington, Canton Township and Washing- ton County. 5. Notify Controller's Office about a breakdown of reimbursements and current status of reimbursements on participation of State Agencies (Civil Defense, Airport, Chartiers Creek, etc.) 6. Insurance Account Fund. Credit the insurance account with refunds such as; losses from fire, widstorm, premium refunds, etc., Office of County Controller to be notified. I Motion by Mr. Cummins, seconded by Mr. Mazza, that the County Controller be authorized to advertise for the printing and delivering, to the Election Department of the'County Commissioners the necessary ballots and election supplies required for the conduct of the General Election which will be held on Tuesday, November 6, 1962, also the delivering of ballot boxes with election supplies to the Judges of Flections for the one hundred eighty-nine (189) precincts. Bids to be received by the County Controller, in the Office of the County Controller, Courthouse, 'Washing- ton, Pennsylvania, until 11:00 a.m., Daylight Savings Time, Friday, August 24, 1962, and opened immediately thereafter in the Office of the County Commissioners. Motion carried unanimously. Motion by Mr. Cummins, seconded by Mr. Mazza, that the sum of $500.00 be transferred from the Item Miscellaneous Account "No. 513" to the Office of County Treasurer (Item No. 107A 2-1)_ for the purpose of paying extra salaries necessitated by additional help being hired to process County Tax Statements. Motion carried animously.
