BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS WASHINGTON COUNTY, PENNSYLVAINIA
FRANCIS E. PETTIT, J. SLATCH CUMMINS, JOHN MAZZA, COMMISSIONERS
work at the new State School at Morganza. The average salary paid at,the Home for Aged Women is
85 cents per hour or $178.50 per month. The minimum rate should be at least $210e00 per month.
Mr. Mazza stated that if any branch of our County government is underpaid, it
is the Institution District. If the budget permits, this Board should go on record to give them
a raise. I would definitely be in favor of such action.
Mr. Cummins left the meeting at this time.
Motion by Mr. Mazza, seconded by Nre Cummins, that the County Commissioner
regular meetings be held Friday of each week at 10:00 a.m., and the Chief Clerk's Office directed
to publish this notice as required by law, this action being effective immediately.
Motion carried unanimously.
Motion by Mr. Mazza, seconded by Mr. Cummins, that the meeting be adjourned.

Board of County Commissioners met in regular session with the -following members
being presents Commissioners Pettit, Cummins and Mazza. also present being County Solicitor
Hormell, Mr., Bradshaw and Reporter Mardian.
Mr. Mazza informed the Board that he attended the meeting of the Southwestern
Pennsylvania Regional Planning Commission on Thursday evening, January 17, 1963,E at the Duquesne
Club in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Motion by Mr. Cummins, seconded by Mrt Mazza, that the Articles of Agreement
between Washington County and Allegheny County Work House and Inebriate Asylum at Parkview, be
executed, this being a semi-annual contract (commencing January 1, 1963, and ending June 30,
1963), covering the boarding of prisoners at said institution.
Motion carried unanimously.
Motion by Mr. Cummins, seconded by Mr. Mazza, that Joseph Huscroft, 545 Center
Avenue, North Charleroi, Pennsylvania, be appointed as tax assessor for said North Charleroi
Borough, Mr. Huscroft is filling the vacancy now existing due to the death of R. J. Hiernauxe
Motion carried unanimously.
Motion by Mr. Cummins, seconded by Mr. Mazza, that the County Controller be
authorized to advertise for bids for the construction of a "Family Type Detention Home* on
County property located at the Washington County Home and Hospital for Men on North Main Street,
Washington, Pennsylvania. Bidders to bid on (1) General Construction (2) Heating & Ventilating
(3) Plumbing Construction (4) Electric Construction. All bids to be in accordance with plans,
specifications and proposal forms which may be obtained at the Office of Beall & Parkins, A.I.A.,
Registered ,Architects, 601-602 Washington Trust Building, Washington, Pennsylvania. Bids to be
