BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS WASHINGTON COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA
FRANCtS E. PETTIT, J. BLATCH CUMMINS, JOHN MAZZA, COMMISSIONERS
being present: Commissioners Pettit, Cummins and Mazza. Also present being County Solicitor
Hornell, Reporter Crouse and Mr. Bradshaw.
Motion by Mr. Cummins, seconded by Mr. Pettit, that John Mazza be re -appointed as
Washington County's representative to the Southwestern Pennsylvania Regional Planning Commission,
this action to be effective December 34 1962.
1963 Budget.
Motion carried.
Mr. Mazza thanked the Board for this re -appointment.
Mr. Mazza stated that he favored an increase in the hospital appropriations in the
Mr. Pettit remarked that a preliminary survey of the possibilities of easing the com-t
of indigent patient care by the four hospitals in Washington County had .been made and it is esti-
mated that an expenditure of approximately $12,000 to $15,000 might be sufficient to create a ward
at the Washington County Home for .Aged Men and handle approximately three dozen patients.
Mr. Cummins stated that he would withhold any commitment on increasing the hospital
appropriations until he sees how the 1963 Budget stands.
Motion by Mr. Cummins, seconded by Mr. Mazza, that the firm of Beall & Parkins,
Architects, submit to the Federal Govermment for Public Works approval the application for the
project of the Van Eman Bridge over Chartiers Creek connecting Cecil and North Strabane Townships„
Motion carried unanimously.
Mr. Mardian entered the meeting at this time.
Motion by Mr. Cummins, seconded by Mr. Mazza, that the Courthouse be closed on
February 12th (Lincoln's•Birthday), also on the 22nd of February (Washington's Birthday), if
Court is not in session on that day.
Motion carried unanimously.
Motion by Mr. Cummins, seconded by Mr. Mazza, that the meeting be recessed u:6til
11:00 a.m., at which time Fleet Insurance bids will be opened.
Motion carried unanimously.
Motion by Mr. Mazza, seconded by Mr. Cwudns, that the meeting be adjourned.
Motion carried.unanimeusly.
