Motion by Mr. Cummins, seconded by Mr, Pettit, that Mae Davis be appointed as
Secretary for the Child Welfare Services;.this action to be effective March 1, 1963.
Motion carried unanimously.
Motion by Mr. Cummins., seconded by Mr. Pettit, that Jean L. Shipley be appointed
as a Registered Nurse at the Washington County Home and Hospital for Men; this action to be effec-
tive March 5, 1963.
Motion carried unanimously,
Motion by Mr. Cummins, seconded by Mr. Pettit, that Eleanor Zapatski be
appointed as a Practical Nurse replacing Frances Dolence at'the Washington County Home and

being present: Commissioners Pettit, Cummins and Mazza. Also present being County Solicitor

Correspondence received by Mr. Pettit, Chairman of the Board, was read.
1. International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers - concerning flood
control project for the Chartiers Creek area. (R.C.A. Plant located
at Meadowlands, Pennsylvania).

2. Federal Aviation Agency - regard to final inspection of the
electrical portion of the Indyk Brothers Construction Company contract
at the Washington County Airport (inspection conducted February 27, 1963).

3. Resolution passed by the Borough of Houston - for flood protection
of the Borough of Canonsburg and Houston, Washington County, Penna.
Mr. Cummins informed the Board that John Yuhas, Acting Engineer for Washington
County, met with Maurice K. Goddard, Secretary of Forests and Waters, and their Chief Engineer
McConnell at Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, on Thursday.. March 14, 1963, concerning the Chartiers
Creek Flood Control Project and.the Raccoon Creek Flood Control Project in,Cherry Valley , Smith
Township, Washington County, Pennsylvania, also, that he would attend a meeting on Friday, March
15, 1963, with Governor Scranton concerning the above mentioned matter.
Motion by Mr. Cummins, seconded by Mr. Pettit, that Frank P. Green, 311?.1 Phillip
Street, Spears Hill, Charleroi, Pennsylvania, be appointed as Assessor for Spears Borough, Wash-
ington County, Pennsylvania, to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Eleanor Balogh
Zelnis.
Motion carried unanimously.
Motion by Mr. Cummins, seconded by Mr. Pettit, that the Tax Assessment Office
be authorized to prepare tax refunds for the following due to either duplication or overpayment
on real estate or occupation tax. ,

for overpayment of 1962 County Tax. On August 1, 1962, tax was
paid in the amount of $65.46 on property situate in F&Uowffield
Township, Washington County, described as 1 story brick house,
plot 100 x 150. Correction slip dated 1163 reduced the valuation
to 200. and 3300. and tax to $40.74, making a refund due of $24-72.

overpayment of 1962 County Tax, On July 25, 1962, tax was paid in
