FRANCIS E. PETTIT, J. BLATCH CUMMINS, JOHN MAZZA, COMMISSIONERS
Hospital for Men; this action to be effective August 26, 1963.
Motion carried unanimously.
Motion by Mr. -Cummins, seconded by Mr. Mazza, that Blair Keiffer be
appointed as temporary extra help at the Washington County Howe and Hospital for Men; this
action to be effective September 1, 1963-
Motion carried unanimously.
Motion by Mr. Mazza, seconded by Mr. Cummins, that the meeting be adjourned.
Motion carried unanimously.

Washington, Pa., September 6, 1963
Board of County Commissioners met in regular session with the following
members being present: Commissioners Pettit, Cummins, and Mazza. Also present being Chief
Clerk Polaski, John Yuhas, of the Engineer's Office, Mr. Bradshaw and Reporter Crouse.
Meeting called to order by Chairman of the Board, Francis E. Pettit.
Mr. Pettit read the following correspondences
1. Letter from Department of Internal Affairs,
Harrisburg, Penns., requesting a photograph of
the Washington County Courthouse to be displayed
in the new Museum Building in Harrisburg.
(Referred to Chief Clerkts Office.)
Mr. Yuhas informed the Board.that it would cost approximately $940.00,
using County laborers, to erect a concrete block garage to house fire -fighting equipment made
available by the Federal Government for use at the airport.
Mr. Pettit suggested the equipment be stored at the Fairgrounds until such
time as money is appropriated to erect a building, being that no money is presently set up in
the budget. (Matter referred to Mr. Yuhas).
2. Letter from Smith Township Supervisors requesting
County to eliminate house located in the township,
as it is badly deteriorated and creates a fire
hazard. (Referred to Tax Claim Bureau).
3. Letter from Southwestern Pennsylvania Regional
Planning Commission extending invitation to
attend a field trip to Westmoreland County,
Mr. Mazza stated that he would a ttend.
4. Letter from Pennsylvania Conference on Interchange
Planning, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, inviting County
Commissioners and representatives of planning agencies
to attend statewide conference to be held Thursday,
September 19, 1963, at the Edacation Building in
Harrisburg.
Mr. Mazza will also attend this conference.
Motion by Mr. Cummins, seconded by Mr. Mazza, that in accordance with the
request of the County Treasurer dated August 16 and August 29, 1963; September 5 and 6, 1963; tho
request of taxpayers for refunds number 1 dated August 16, 1963 consisting of one item; number
2 dated August 29, 1963 consisting of 20 items; number 3 dated September 5, 1963 consisting of
five items and number 4 dated September 6, 1963 consisting of two items, are hereby approved and
