Meeting called to order by Chairman of the Board, Francis E. Pettit.
General discussion was held concerning the changing of the polling place
from its present location at the Coffee House in the first ward third precinct of Canonsburg
to the first ward School. Attorneys Patrick Derrico and Frank C. Roney representing persons
in favor of the change to the First Ward School, stated the Coffee House was crowded,
improperly policed and persons voting there are subject to threats and intimidation.
Attorney Michael E. Kusturiss representing those in favor of retaining the

end of the precinct, facilities were not good and that a safety problem would be present.
After more discussion, Mr.Cimmins stated that he was in favor of the present
polling place at the Coffee House, that the present location has been used for thirty years and
it should remain there. Mr. Cummins also stated that a change at this time would create
confustion on the part of the voters, and because a recent annexation of part of Cecil Township
to Canonsburg might make it necessary to realign the entire first ward next year.
Mr. Pettit stated that there has been no objection by either side to having
the polling place at the Presbyterian Mission School, which is centrally located, and that an
improvement should be made, even for one election.
Mr. Mazza stated that he would be in favor of the Mission School location,
in view of the fact that it was agreeable to both sides.
