FRANCIS E. PETTIT, W.J. LANE, JOHN -MAZZA, COMMISSIONERS
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Commissioners of the said County
of Washington, pursuant to the provisions of Section 4 (a) (3) of said Act No. 662 and Section
4 of the Plan and Agreement, Identification No. 8 69-023085., Code No. 20063, entered into July
7, 1953, between the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the County of Washington., request, and do
hereby request the State Agency to so modify said Plan and Agreement as to include this group
previously excluded from coverage by reason of their membership in said retirement system, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that said Plan and Agreement be further modified so as to
include all optional classes of service, except;
6. Services of an emergency nature.
7. Services in positions the compengation for which is on a fee basis.
8. Services performed by a student which, if performed in the employ of
a non -government employer, would be excluded from employment under
Section 210 (a) of the Social Security Act.
9. Services in any class or classes of elective positions which are not
subject to county -wide elections. (Local tax collectors or local
tax assessors).
10. Services in any class or classes of part-time positions.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Commissioners of the County of Washingtom,
pursuant to Federal Social Security regulations, request, and do hereby request that this group
be designated Unit No. 2, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT THIS ADDITIONAL GROUP become a participant in the
Social Security System, and that such participation shall commence as of January 1, 1956.

Board of County Commissioners in regular session, those present being Commissioner,
Pettit and Mazza.
Motion.by Mr. Mazza, seconded by Mr. Pettit, that the Board of County Commissioner,
of the County of Washington, renew note for 150,000.00 as a temporary loan dated November 30,
1956, as follows:
The following Resolution of the Board of County Commissioners of the County of
Washington, State of Pennsylvania, relative to the issue by the said County of a Note for One
Hundred Fifty Thousand ($150,000.00) Dollars as a temporary loan, was presented, duly seconded
and adopted by the said Board, to wit:
"WHEREAS, It has become necessary for said Board to borrow the sum of One Hundred
Fifty Thousand ($150,000.00) Dollars for the purpose of meeting current expenses for the year
1957, and to be payable put -of taxes and other current revenues which have been assessed and have
been levied and to be collected by the County during the year 1957; now, therefore;
BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of the said County of Wash-
ington , that for the purpose of providing funds for the payment of current expenses of the
County, the proper officials of the said County are hereby authorized and directed to negotiate
a temporary loan on such terms as may be agreed upon by them, payable out of taxes which have
been levied and to be collected during the year 1957, and so much of said taxes as may be
necessary to repay said loan, with interest, is hereby set aside and designated for that purpose,
and issue a note therefore, payable August 5, 1957, with interest from date of said note at the
rate of two per cent (2%) per annum, free of all taxes levied by Commonwealth of Pennsylvania,
which said taxes the County of Washington assumes and agrees to pay,said note be negotiated and
issued as follows:

PEOPLES FIRST NATIONAL BALK AND TRUST COMPANY, WASHINGTON, PA.....................150,000.00"
Motion carried.
Motion by Mr. Mazza, seconded by Mr. Pettit, that the County Controller be
authorized to advertise for a policy of insurance for Public Liability within the limits of
$20,000.00 to $100,000.00 and Property Damage not to exceed $1,000.00 for each accident in a
reliable and approved stock company, protecting the County of Washington against liability
imposed by law upon them for damage on account of personal injuries, including death accidentally
suffered by any persons (excepting employees) caused by or resulting from the existence of
repairing and/ or maintenance of the various buildings, properties and operation of the County,
including 149 Bridges and approaches, and protecting the County of Washington against property
damage imposed by law upon them for the amount not to exceed $1,000.00 for each accident. Bids
to be received by the County Controller, in his office in the Courthouse, Washington, Pennsylvania.,
until 11:00 A.M., Eastern Standard Tim, Monday, January 21, 1957, and opened immediately there-
after in the Office of the County Commissioners.
Motion carried.
Motion by Mr. Mazza, seconded by Mr. Pettit, that Minute Nos. 91,92,92 A,93,94
and 95, were read and approved.
There being no further business to come before the Board at this time, the meeting
adjourned.
