Motion by Mr. Lane, seconded by Mr. Mazza, that the following resolution for Flood Control of Chartiers Creek be adopted. RESOLUTION WiEREA5, pursuant to a review authorized by a resolution adopted 15 July 1947 by the Committeeon Public Works of the United States House of Representatives, the District Ingineor Pittsburgh District, has submitted a report (Aug. 24, 1956) of survey 'cope to the Chief of Engineers, Department of the Army, through the Division Engineer; and WHEREAS, such report recommends that the general, comprehensive plan for flood control in the Ohio River Basin be modified to include channel improvement for -protection of adjoining parts of the City of Washington and Chartiers Township, Washington County, Pennsylvania from Chartierb Creek floods at an estimated cost of $1,286,4000 to the United States for construe. tion; and 3EREAS, on August 3: 1956s the County Commissioners of Washington County, Penney vania, adopted alrosolution wherein it was resolved that: "1.. For such proposes, the County Come:.i.ssioners shall do all acts that may be necessary and proper to effectually carry the County's share of the Local Flood Prevention Project, with a vier to har- monious and efficient action and proportionate contribution as nearly as may be arrived at or be practicable." WEREAS, such County Commissioners are now informed that the Public Works Commi of the United States House of Representatives has failed to approve an authorization for the expenditure of $1,286i000 for the performance of the work recomrmended by the above identified report. NOW, be it resolved by the Washington County Comissioneras that: 1. The resolution of iugnirb 9, 1956s be and hereby is affirmed. NOW, THERMORE BE IT RESOLVED, that a copy of this resolution be sent to the President of the United States, the President Pro -Temp of the United States Senate, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the United States Senators Edward Martin and Joseph S. Clark, Jr,, and Congressman Thomas E. Morgan.
