a great deal of our shelter. Too many times in the past, in our county - and throught this natio:l,
we have accepted our natural resources without any thought of their limitations.
In recent years a new concept has developed: that of using and conserving our soil
and water resources for this and future generations. This week across the nation pastors of
rural and urban churches are joining with their Soil Conservation District Directors to remand
us of our responsibilities of good stewardship of the land.
The directors of the Washington County Soil Conservation District have been making
record accomplishments in working with farmers and landowners in the broad field of conservation
and we are hopeful this work will continue at an ever increasing rate.
We therefore, the County Commissioners of Washington County, proclaim May 3 to May 10
as Soil Stewardship Week and respectfully urge all participating farm and non -farm people to place
special emphasis on man's sacred obligation to be a faithful steward of the Lord's resources.
