(a) Furnish without cost to the United States all lands, ea nts, and rights -of -fir ir
necessary for the construction of the project;
(b) Hold and save the United States free from damages due to the construction works
including aslM"other things the occasional impoundment of flood waters daring major floods
associated with the proposed deflection dike-
(c) Maintain and operate all the Works after completion in accordance with regulations
prescribed by the Secretary of the Array;
(d) Bear the cost of mow highway bridges, street adjustments,, and utility changes
required for the project; and
(e) Prescribe and enforce regulations designed to prVrrent encroachments on the improved
channel.
THESE ASSURANCES are gxecuted pursuant to a resolution by the Board of Washington County
Commissioners duly passed and adopted at a regular meeting held in the Washington County Courthouse.

It is expressly agreed and understood that these Assurances are executes on the bases
of the General Design Memorandum and are subject to -approval by the County of Washington of the
detailed construction drawings. These Assurances are also conditional upon the actual appropria-
tion of the construction funds for the project by the United States Congress.
Notion carried unanimously.
There being no further business to come before the Board at this time, the meeting
adjourned.

Board of County Commmissioners in special session those present being: Commissioners
Pettit, Cummins and Maria.
Motion by Mr. Cummins, seconded by Br. Pettit, that Phyllis Kurilla, be appointed as a
Clerk in the Tax Claim Bureau, this action to be retroactive to August 1, 1959.
Motion carried unanimously,
Lotion by Mr. Cummins, seconded by Mr. Pettit, that Edward C. Butter, be appointed as
a Janitor at the Office of the,Superintendent of Schools, replacing William fool; this action
to be retr6active to August 1, 1959.
Lotion carried unanimously.
