Board of County Commissioners in regular session, those present being Messrs.
Pettit and Mazza.
Motion dully made and seconded that the following Resolution be adopted:
RESOLUTION NO. 81 - A
WHEREAS, the Social Security Act has been, so amended by the.00ngress of.the
United States as to permit political subdivisions of the several states to extend to their
employes and officers the benefits of Old Age and Survivors Insurance, and
WHEREAS, the 1951 session of theGeneral Assembly of the Commonwealth of Penn-
sylvania, in regular session, has enacted a statute known as Act No. /+91, which enables the
political subdivision of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, to take all action necessary to
effectuate the coverage of their employes and officers under the Old Age and Survivors Insurance
System, and
WHEREAS, it is the opinion of the Board of County Commissioners, County of
Washington that the extension of this Social Security System will be of great benefit not only
to the employes of the County of Washington, but to the County of Washington by attracting to
it and enabling it to retain the best of personnel and thus increasing the efficiency of its
government; and it is deemed that the payment by the County of its portion of the cost of said
system is a payment for the purpose of the County.
NON, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners, County
of Washington, that this county become a participant in the Social Security System and that
the benefits of Old Age and Survivors Insurance be extettdW to its employes and officers, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Commissi ers of the County of Washing-
ton in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania are authorized to execute and deliver to the Secretary
of Labor and Industry of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the "State Agency" charged with the
administration of the enabling Act, the Plan and Agreement required under the provisions of
Section 6 of said enabling Act and the Social Security Act, to extend coverage to the employes
and officers of this County, and to do all other things necessary to that end, and
