BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS WASHINGTON COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA
FRANCIS E. PETTIT, W. J. LANE, JOHN MAZZA, COMMISSIONERS
Objections were also filed with the County Board of Elections to set aside nomina-
tion petition of James E. Holmes, Houston Borough. Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was
ordered that a hearing be fixed for Friday, March 27, 1953 at 10:00 a.m.
Motion carried.
There being no further business to come before the Board at this time, the
meeting adjourned.

Office of the County Commissioners
Washington, Pa., March 25, 1953
Board of County Commissioners in regular session, those present being Messrs.
Pettit, Lane and Mazza.
Motion by Mr. Lane, seconded by Mr. Pettit, that the budget for the General Fund
for the County of Washington for the fiscal year 1953 be finally adopted by the County Commis-
sioners; the said budget having been availabe for public inspection in the Office of the 'Chief
Clerk to the County Commissioners from March 5, 1953 to this date, in accordance with the pro-
visions of the Act of Assembly of July 18, 1935s and the rate of taxation upon the valuation of
properties of the County of Washington, in order to tax sufficient revenue to meet required ex-
penditures for the fiscal year 1953, be fixed at eight (8) mills, which makes the payment of
taxes in the amount of eighty (80) cents upon each $100 of assessed valuation of real estate
and occupation.
Motion carried unanimously.
Motion by Mr. Lane, seconded by Mr. Mazza, that inconjunction with the resolution
passed by this Board on January 30, 1952, the following named persons are hereby furloughed for
a period from March 24, 1953 to May 20, 1953-
David H. Weiner Russell R. Reese
Michael A. Hanna Anthony L. Marino
Motion carried unanimously.
Motion by Mr. Lane, seconded by Mr. Mazza, that the County Treasurer be and is
hereby directed to cancel the Treasurer Tax Sale of April 25, 1940 for the 1931, 1932s 1933;
1934, County School and City Taxes, plus sale costs for property assessed to August Valentour
Estate and described as "Vacant Lot rear Vine Street and situate in the Second Ward, City of.
Monongahela, Washington County, Pennsylvania; inasmuch as this property was sold by the Tax
Claim Bureau on September 10, 1952, for unpaid taxes for the years 1948s 1950, 1951, the pur-
chaser being J. M. Billen, R. D. 1, Monongahela, Pennsylvania.
The Tax Claim Bureau and the Assessment Office and the Office of the Prothonotary
are hereby directed to fnark their records accordingly.
Motion carried unanimously.
There being no further business to come before the Board at this time, the
meeting adjourned.
