Board of County 'Commissioners in regular session, those present being Messrs,
Pettit, Lane and Mazza.
Motion by Mr. Lane, seconded by Mr. Mazza, that the following Polling Place be
changed as follows; inasmuch as permission was not granted for the use of Cline's Storeroom.
New Eagle Borough 2nd Precinct
From: 'Olin's Storeroom
To: G. A. Hoerner Residence
Rental: $25.00
Motion carried.
Motion by Mr. Lane, seconded by Mr. Mazza, that the following persons be named
as Assistants to the Official Return Board to compute votes cast at the Primary Election held
May 19, 1953.
W. W. Croner Rosalie Amatangelo
Philomena Prencipe Frances Kubala
Beverly Davis Mona Lee Clark
Alen Patterson
Motion carried.
Motion by Mr. Lane, seconded by Mr. Mazza, that the Commonwealth Sanitation
Company be given the contract for the sanitation program for the Washington County Courthouse
Building, being that he submitted the lowest bid in the amount of $40.00 per month.
Motion carried.
Motion by Mr. Lane, seconded by Mr. Mazza, that the bill as presented by J. Win-
field Reed, Appraiser for services in the Herr Property in the amount of $185.00, be approved
for payment.
Motion carried.
Motion by Mr. Lane, seconded by Mr. Mazza, that the Following employees be placed
back on the payroll, being that their leave -of -absence has expired; this action retroactive to
May 20, 1953- David H. Weiner and Fred Caruso.
Motion carried.
There being no further business to come before the Board at this time, the
meeting adjourned.

RESOLUTION
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Commissioners of Washington County that the plans
submitted by the Pennsylvania Department of Highways for the changing of State Application 685
from Station 219 + 33 to Station 221 + 61; the changing of State Application 27 from Station
0 + 00 to Station 127 + 37.90, and the changing of Legislative Route 62004 from Station 0 + 00
to Station 0 + 30; all in Cecil Township, Washington County; have been examined by the Commis-
sioners and they agree that Washington County will not assume liability for any property damages
resulting from the changing of the above named highways as contemplated by these plans or any
damages arising out of any changes or alteration of drainage resulting from the construction or
maintenance of these highways or of any damages resulting to any property or holdings of any
Public Utility Company; nor will the County assume any damages resulting to any coal or other
minerals in and underlying the property affected by this improvement; but that Washington County
will contribute the sum of Five Thousand ($5,000.00) Dollars toward the payment of property
damages on these roads.

Motion by Mr. Lane, seconded by Mr. Mazza, that the bid of Charles Co Bissett,
for the Improvement of a portion of the Channel of Chartiers Creek in Canton Township and the
City of Washington in t he amount of $27,593.30, be accepted as it was the lowest bid opened on
May •1, 1953•
Motion carried.
The following Resolution of the Board of County Commissioners of the County of
Washington, State of Pennsylvania, relative to the issue by the said County of a Note for
Fifty Thousand ($50,000.00) Dollars as a temporary loan, was presented, duly seconded and
adopted by the said Board, to -wit:
"WHEREAS, It has become necessary for said Board to borrow the sum of Fifty
Thousand (50,000.00) Dollars for the purpose of meeting current expenses for the year 1953,
and to be payable out of taxes and other current revenues which have been assessed and are to
levied and collected by the 'County during the year 1953; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of the said bounty of Wash-
ington, that for the purpose of providing funds for the payment of current expenses of the
County, the proper officials of the said County are hereby authorized and directed to negotiate
a temporary loan on such terms as may be agreed upon by them, payable out of taxes which are to
be levied and collected during the year 1953, and so much of said taxes as may be necessary to
repay said loan, with interest, is hereby set aside and designated for that purpose, and issue
a note therefor, payable August 7, 1953, with interest from date of said note at the rate of
One (1) per cent, per annum, free of all taxes levied by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania,
which said taxes the County of Washington assumes and agrees to pay, said note to be negotiated
and issued as follows:
WASHINGTON UNION TRUST COMPANY, WASHINGTON, PA ......................... .......44..$50,000.00"
Motion carried.
Motion by Mr. Lane, seconded by Mr. Mazza, that a refund for the 1951 County
Tax and cost, in the amount of $49.99, paid on May 15, 1953, to the Tax Claim Bureau, be made
payable to George Modrak, attorney for Michael & Mary Herman, Canonsburg, Pennsylvania. This
refund to be made on property situate in Mt. Pleasant Township and described as house & 95
acres surface, adjoining S. A. Harbinso n. Refund being made, due to the fact, that on May 12,
1952 the amount of $49.99 was paid on the 1951 County Tax on the above property by The Federal
Land Bank of Baltimore, by receipt number 3545. Therefore, a refund for this duplicate payment
is requested, the Tax Claim Bureau is authorized to prepare said voucher.
Motion carried.
Motion duly made and seconded that the Tax 'Claim Bureau be authorized to adver-
tise Tax Sale Properties in the Washington Observer and the Monongahela Daily Republican and
one publication in the Washington Record Company, as prescribed by the Acts of Assembly.
