Washington County Commissioners
Washington, PA, May 7, 2009
The Washington County Salary Board met in session in the Public Meeting Room of the Courthouse Square Office
Building, Washington, Pennsylvania, with the following members being present: Commissioners Larry Maggi, Bracken Burns
and Diana L. Irey; Controller Mike Namie; Scott Fergus, Director of Administration; Lynn DeHaven, Solicitor; Linda Belcher,
Administrative Assistant; Mary Helicke, Chief Clerk; Francis King, Treasurer; Chuck Nicholls, Human Resources; Carl
Maggi, Bob Vaughn and Art Balieu, interested citizens; Jim Jefferson, WJPA; and Barbara Miller, Observer -Reporter.
Chairman Maggi called the meeting to order at approximately 11:00 a.m.
Moved by Mrs. Irey, seconded by Mr. Burns, approving Minute No. 4-S-09 dated April 2, 2009 as written.
Roll call vote taken:
Ms. Irey — Yes; Mr. Burns — Yes;
Mr. Maggi — Yes; Mr. Namie — Yes.
Motion carried unanimously.
PUBLIC COMMENTS:
John Adams, of Avella, stated that the elected officials should not receive a 3% raise. He noted the economy is bad and
taxpayers can't afford this increase.
FOR THE BOARD'S CONSIDERTION
Chris Weller, of the Court Administrator's Office, was present on behalf of the Courts.
COMMUNITY SERVICES- FITS

Michael Wasler, Howard Dye, Robert Davis, Jr.
3% increases in hourly salary, effective retroactive to January 1, 2009.
Discussion was held with regards to tabling these personnel items. It was noted that these items that are administered
with a court order, could be considered in January (the same time the Salary Board considers all annual raises). The Board -
was in agreement with this procedure. Mr. Nicholls was instructed to consult with the Courts regarding this matter.

Summer employee, 7.25/hour, create one position not to exceed budget amount, eff. 5/15/09 to 8/31/09
PROTHONOTARY

Chairman Maggi noted for the record that items noted for the record during 2009 were incorporated into the Salary
Book. It is the consensus of the Salary Board that any procedural errors in the 2009 Salary Book may be corrected
administratively by Human Resources.
There being no further business, Chairman Maggi recessed the meeting at approximately 11:08 a.m.
