Washington County Commissioners
Washington, PA, June 4, 2009
The Washington County Salary Board met in session in the Public Meeting Room of the Courthouse Square Office
Building, Washington, Pennsylvania, with the following members being present: Commissioners Larry Maggi, Bracken Burns
and Diana L. Irey; Controller Mike Namie; Scott Fergus, Director of Administration; Lynn DeHaven, Solicitor; Linda Belcher,
Administrative Assistant; Mary Helicke, Chief Clerk; Brittney Bushmire, intern; Chuck Nicholls, Human Resources; Chris
Weller, Court Administrator; John Adams, interested citizen; Jim Jefferson, WJPA; and Barbara Miller, Observer -Reporter.
Chairman Maggi called the meeting to order at approximately 10:35 a.m.
Moved by Mrs. Irey, seconded by Mr. Burns, approving Minute No. 5-S-09 dated May 7, 2009 as written.
Roll call vote taken:
Ms. Irey — Yes; Mr. Burns — Yes;
Mr. Maggi — Yes; Mr. Namie — Yes.
Motion carried unanimously.
PUBLIC COMMENTS:
John Adams, of Avella, stated that the elected officials should not receive a 3% raise. He noted the economy is bad and
taxpayers can not afford this increase.
FOR THE BOARD'S CONSIDERTION
Chris Weller, of the Court Administrator's Office, was present on behalf of the Courts.
COMMUNITY SERVICES
Richard Cario, Community Services Foreman,13.50/hour increase to13.91/hour, provide with a 3% increase in hourly
salary, eff. retroactive to 1/1/09
FITS PROGRAM
Thomas Shrum, FITS Foreman,13.50/hour increase to 13.91/hour, provide with a 3% increase in hourly salary, eff.
retroactive to 1/1/09
Michael Wasler, FITS Foreman,12.58/hour increase to 12.96/hour, provide with a 3% increase in hourly salary, eff.
retroactive to 1/1/09
Howard Dye, FITS Foreman,11.50/hour increase to 11.85/hour, provide with a 3% increase in hourly salary, eff.
retroactive to 1/1/09
Robert Davis, Jr., FITS Foreman,11.50/hour increase to 11.85/hour, provide with a 3% increase in salary, eff. retroactive
to 1/1/09
Moved by Mr. Burns, seconded by Ms. Irey, approving the foregoing personnel items for the Courts.

Chairman Maggi noted for the record that items noted for the record during 2009 were incorporated into the Salary
Book. It is the consensus of the Salary Board that any procedural errors in the 2009 Salary Book may be corrected
administratively by Human Resources.
There being no further business, Chairman Maggi recessed the meeting at approximately 10:40 a.m.
