Board of County Commissioners in regular session, those present being Messrs.
Pettit, Lane and Mazza.
Motion by Mr. Dane, seconded by Mr. Pettit, that Annabelle Crockett, be appointed
as a cleaning woman at the Court House; this action retroactive to October 20, 1953•
Motion carried unanimously.
Motion by Mr. Lane, seconded by Mr. Mazza, that the following Resolution of the
Board of County Commissioners of the County of Washington, State of Pennsylvania, relative to
the issue by the said County of a Note for One Hundred Thousand (100,000.00) Dollars as a
temporary loan, was presented, duly seconded and adopted by the said Board, to -wit:
"WHEREAS, It has become necessary for said Board to borrow the sum of One Hundred
Thousand ($100,000.00) Dollars for the purpose of meeting current expenses for the year 1953; and
to be payable out of taxes and other current revenues which have been assessed and are to be
levied and collected by the County during the year 1954; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of the said County of Wash-
ington, that for the purpose of providing funds for the payment of current expenses of the County,
the proper officials of the said County are hereby authorized and directed to negotiate,a tem-
porary loan on such terms as may be agreed upon by them, payable out of taxes which are to be
levied and collected during the year 1954, and so much of said taxes as may be necessary to repay
said loan, with interest, is hereby set aside and designated for that purpose, and issue a note
therefor, payable August 7, 1954, with interest from dat of said note at the rate of one (1)
per cent, per annum, free of all taxes levied by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, which said
taxes the County of Washington assumes and agrees to pay, said note to be negotiated and issued
as follows:
WASHINGTON UNION TRUST COMPANY, WASHINGTON, PA.....................................$100,000,00"
Motion carried unanimously.
Motion by Mr. Lane, seconded by Mr. Pettit, that Minute Nos. 153, 154, 155, 156
and 157, were read and approved,
Motion carried unanimously.
Motion by Mr, Lane, seconded by Mr, Mazza, that a refund voucher in the amount
of 4 9,83, paid on July 1, 1953, be made payable to Harry B. Danley, 349 Burton Avenue, Washing-
ton, Pennsylvania, on property situate in the Township of ouffalo, described as 30 acres coal,
adjoining W. E. & R, S. Mounts (in the amount of $8.98) and house and barn, 96 acres land adjoin-
ing W. E. & R, S. Mounts (in the amount of $40.85) making a total of $49,83 paid on July 1, 1953.
This refund being made, due to the fact, that on July 22, 1953, the same amount of 049.83, was
paid by Harry B. Danley, for the 1953 County Tax. Therefore, the Tax Claim Bureau is authorized
to prepare the said voucher for this refund of duplicate payment.
Motion carried unanimously.
