LANE, JOHN MAZZA, COMMISSIONERS 4. �I NO. 179-A Office of the County Commissioners Washington, Pa., February 8, 1954 Board of County Commissioners in regular session, those present being Messrs. Pettit, Lane and Mazza. At this time, Controller Elish entered the meeting and action was taken upon the bids which were opened at 11:00 a.m., February 8, 1954. Motion by Mr. Lane, seconded by Mr. Mazza, that the Fleet Insurance Contract be awarded to MacDONALD WEAVER, 233 Washington Trust Building, Washington, Pa., he being the only qualified bidder meeting all specifications as set forth, for the total premium of 2,218.85. Motion carried, with Mr. Elish being excused from the meeting. Motion by Mr. Lane, seconded by Mr. Mazza, that the County Controller be authoriz- ed to advertise for the printing and delivery of Election Supplies for the conduct of the Primary Election to be held Tuesday, May 18, 1954, and the delivering of ballot boxes with election supplies to Judges of Election for the one hundred eighty-eight (188) precincts; bids to be opened Monday, March 1, 1954 at 11:00 a.m., in the Office of the County Commissioners. Motion carried. Motion by Mr. Mazza, seconded by Mr. Lane, that the Board accept the sum of $10,000.00 from the City of Washington Chamber of Commerce, as part of the contribution which will be made by interested citizens of Washington County, for the improvement of Washington - County Airport. Motion carried unanimously. Motion by Mr. Lane,.seconded.by Mr. Mazza, that the following resolution of the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Washington, State of Pennsylvania, relative to the issue by the said County of a Note for One Hundred Thousand ($100,000.00) Dollars as a temporary loan, was presented, duly seconded and adopted by the said Board to -wit: "WHEREAS, It has become necessary, for said Board to borrow the sun of One Hundred Thousand ($100,000.00) Dollars for the purpose of meeting current expenses for the year 1954.. and to be payable out of taxes and other current revenues which have been assessed and are to be levied and collected by the County during the year 1954; now, therefore, BE IT RFMLVID by the Board of County Commissioners of the said County of Washing- ton, that for the purpose of providing funds for the payment of current expenses of the County, the proper officials of the said County are hereby authorized and directed to negotiate a tem- porary loan on such terms as may be agreed upon by them, payable out of taxes which are to be levied and collected during the year 1954, and so much of said taxes as may be necessary to re- pay said loan, with interest, is hereby set aside and designated for that purpose, and issue a note therefor, payable August 7, 1954, with interest from date of said note at the rate of one (1) per cent, per annum, free of all taxes levied by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania,vhich said taxes the County of Washington assumes and agrees to pay, said note to be negotiated and issued as follows: PEOPLES FAST NATIONAL BANK & TRUST COMPANY, WASHINGTON, PA...........................$100,000. Motion carried. At the request of the County Commissioners the entire election board of the Second Ward, East Bethlehem Township met with the County Commissioners to give their version of the discrepancy in votes cast for the office of Township Commissioner at the November 3, 1953 Municipal Election. The election board members in turn made statements to the effect that people on the outside of polling place were making noise and using language that was unfit for women to hear, and some of these remarks were directed at them, which made them nervous.
