LANE, JOHN MAZZA, COMMISSIONERS NO. 199 Lane and Mazza. adopted: Office of the County Commissioners Washington, Pa., April 15, 1954 Board of County Commissioners in special session, those present being Messrs. Motion by Mr. Mazza, seconded by Mr. Lane, that the following Resolution be RESOLUTION The Commissioners of Washington County; being in special session assembled and - being familiar with the inconveniences caused by the closing of Elco Hill Route 88, Washington County to traffic during removal of earth and rock slide on Elco Hill. The Borough of California is being deprived of a great ampunt of business done with the communities of Elco and Roscoe, and the private contractor who operates the buses to transport the school children to and from the various school districts involved are suffering great loss due to the extra milege necessary because of the detour via Speers and the additional time put in by the operators of these buses, have taken the following action; Motion duly made and seconded that the Washington County petition the Pennsylvania Department of Highways to take steps to expedite the removal of this earth and rock by using additional equipment, and if possible open the road to one way traffic thereby giving partial re- lief to the residents of these communities. Motion carried. Motion by Mr. Mazza, seconded by Mr. Lane, that the County Treasurer be and is hereby authorized to cancel the Treasurer's Tax Sale of April 3, 19469 for the 1944, County, School and Road Taxes plus sale costs for the property assessed to Charles Rhodes Estate and described as, House and Lots 43-44 Hoon Plan, situate in Carroll Township, inasmuch as, the assessment of this House and Lots to Charles Rhodes Estate is incorrect as Charles Rhodes Estate never had title to the said House and Lots. Margaretta R. Hillman being the rightful owner of Lot #43, by Deed Book Volume 491, page 355, April 4, 1921, and on May 5, 1921, Leroy Hoon and Maria L. Hoon, his wife, entered into a written agreement with Margaretta Hillman for the sale of Lot #44. There is no deed on record, but under date of March 29, 1954, Maria L. Hoon, widow of Dr. Leroy Hoon, executed and delivered to Margaret Hillman, and Dixie E. Board, the surviving childred of Margaretta Hillman, a deed for said Lot #44, which to date has not been recorded but will be. The Tax Claim Bureau, The Assessment Office and the Office of the Prothonotary are hereby directed to mark their records accordingly. Motion carried. There being no further business to come before the Board at this time, the meeting adjourned.
