Board of County Commissioners in regular session, those present being Messrs.
Pettit, Lane and Mazza.
Motion by Mr. Lane, seconded by Mr. Mazza, that Steve Smoggie, be appointed as
an employee in The Tax Assessment Office, this action being retroactive to September 16, 1954.
Motion carried.
Motion by Mr. Lane, seconded by Mr. Mazza, that Samuel Bartolatta, be appointed
as an employee in The Tax Assessment Office, this action being retroactive to September 16,1954.
Motion carried.
Motion by Mr. Lane, seconded by Mr. Pettit, that on October 1, 1954, the follow-
ing Resolution was adopted by the Board of County Commissioners relative to the matter of provid-
ing suitable space for use of the County Real Estate Departments
WHE aAS, The acquistion of hundred of properties by the County of Washington at
the Free and Clear Tau Sale has created a condition requiring the setting up of a Real Estate
Department to properly and efficiently supervise these properties and make possible the collec-
tion of rents therefrom and sales thereof to the end that the greatest proceeds be derived there-
from for the.benefit of Washington County; and
WHEREAS, It appearing to the Board that the business of the Real Estate Depart-
ment, dealing with the sale of all properties sold to the County at the Free and Clear Tax Sale
shall be transacted in The Tax Cliam Bureau until such time as the amount of sales increases
sufficiently to warrant a separate Real Estate Department.
WHEREAS, It appearing that the best interests of the County and the other tax-
ing authorities interested and of the taxpayers, require that full and complete records be kept
by the Real Estate Department to the end, that all persons interested may have reasonable access
thereto; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, By the Washington County Commissioners, that a separate minute
book be kept by the said Real Estate Department, to be known as "Washington County Properties* -
(Free and Clear Titles) - "Real Estate Minutes", in which shall be kept and preserved the records
of all actions taken with respect to the sale of all properties sold to the County of Washington
at the Free and Clear Sales and in which book shall -be recorded a true copy of all actions here-
tofore taken with respect to the said properties; a true copy of all said minutes to be furnish-
ed to the County Controller as required by the Act of Assembly in such cases made and provided.
Motion carried.
Motion by Mr. Lane, seconded by Mr. Pettit, that the County Treasurer's Office
be exonerated in the amount of $3.85 for county taxes in the district of Beallsville upon the
request of the Board for the Assessment and Revision of Taxes. This figure represents an error
made in adjustment number 988 dated April 8, 1954 for a one-third (113) interest in the Charles
J. Swagler, et al assessment. The tax shown on the adjustment was $23.10 whereas the amouA
should have been $26.95.
