Motion duly made and seconded that the 1947 assessment of $4600 an property of James Rollins Sevier and Ilma (wife), assessed in Chartiers Township as 1* Story Frame -house and lots 101-102, be.reduced. to $1800; the property having been erroneously increased. Notion carried, with notation of the foregoing action to be made on the Minutes of the Board for the Assessment and Revision of Taxes. Motion duly made and seconded that the Washington County Commissioners appropriate the sum of $350,00 to the 110th Infantry, Washington, Pa., a Federally Recognized Unit of the Pennsylvania National Guard; this appropriation for the Calendar year 1948. Motion carried. Motion duly made and seconded that Mr. Fames T. Reardon, Director of Veterans Affairs, attend the Annual Conference of the Directors of Veterans Affairs, to be held in Harrisburg on May 6, 7 and 8 for the pampose of discussing and clarifying Veterans' problems, enabling Directors to give more efficient service to the Veterans. Motion carried. Motion duly made and seconded that the request of yehn L. Post, Chief Probation Officer be granted; that is to have the special rate of $1.25 per day, fixed for the maintenance of Eddie Davis, an epileptic child, who is now receiving care and training in the foster home of Mrs. John MaHary, R. D. #1., Eighty -Four, Pennsylvania; the purpose -of this JaLthat the commitment of this certain boy to an Institution would increase the cost materially. Motion carried. Motion duly made and seconded that the County Controller be authorised to advertise for approximately seventy-five (75) cubic yards of Transit mixed Class B Concrete in the abutments of the Noble Bridge, Buffalo Creek No. 220 located on Township Road Nb. 611 in Blaine Township; this Concrete to be furnished and delivered in accordance with the specifi- cations of the Pennsylvania Department of Highways for similar materials and equipment and the right is reserved to reject any or all bids or to make such an award as may be deemed to be to the best interests of Washington County. Motion carried. There being no further business to come before the Board at this time, the meeting adjourned. Pettit, Lane and Lowstuter. 34 MINUTE BOOK BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS WASHINGTON COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA FRANCIS E. PETTIT, W. J. LANE, HENRY J. LOWSTUTER, COMMISSIONERS County Controller Stuart called into the meeting for the purpose of awarding the contract in accordance with advertisements of the County Controller for the furnishing and delivering of Two (2) 1+ Ton Dump Trucks and Two (2) Standard Model Dodge Sedans. Motion by Mr. Lane, seconded by Mr. Lowstuter that the bid of $4919.70 for furnish- ing and delivering Two (2) 1* Tern Dump Trucks be awarded to Brown & Rusted, Inc., 41 East Maiden St., Washington, Pa., a Foal Garage; it being the lowest and best bid received. Motion carried, with County Controller Stuart present at this time when this action was taken and instructed to return the certified checks to the unsuccessful bidders. Motion by Mr. Lane, seconded by Mr. Pettit, that the bid of $3171.00 for furnishing and delivering Two (2) latest model Standard four -door Deluxe Sedans be awarded to Guy Wood - word, 235 East Maiden St., Washington, Pa., a Dodge Garage; it being the only bid received according to specifications on proposal blanks. Motion carried. Motion duly made and seconded that the County Controller be authorized to advertise for bids for furnishing and delivering Two (2) two -door latest model Dodge Mans with heater, defroster and also specifying approximate delivery date; said bids to be received until 11s00 a.m., DST., Friday, April 30, 1948, and opened immediately thereafter in the Office of the County Commissioners; a certified check in the amount of $250,00 to accompany proposal of each bidder and the right being reserved to reject wW or all bids. Notion carried, with County Controller Stuart being excused from the meeting., -and regular order of business carried on. Motion by Mr. mane, seconded by Mr. Lowstuter, that the polling places in the follow- ing precincts be changed to the locations set forth, the former Polling Places being no longer available or suitable; such action being taken by the Board under the provisions of the Election Code of 1937 for emergency changes in Polling Places within ten days of Election: Washington, 3d Wd, lot Precinct From: Storeroom Ao.72, E. Walnut St., To: Do*1e Garage of Frank Alley, No. 19 Highland Avenue Hanover, lot Precinct Fret: Storeroom of Marie McDonnell To: Residence of Mrs. J. D* Pollock, (Florence, Pa.) Robinson, 2nd Precinct Proses Residence of John Parnaby To: Residence of Larry Felton Canonsburg, 3d Wd, 2d Precinct From; John Lenggel, 305 Elm St., Tor Mrs. Pearl Foster, 230 Elm -St. Motion carried. Upon petition duly presented to the Board, the polling place in the Second Precinct of Somerset Township is designated as "Room in the Consolidated School House", of Somerset Township. Upon petition presented by the Electors of Somerset Township, lot Precinct, for a change in polling place from residence of Warne C. Crow to Room of Jhlia Foy, and upon motion by Mr. Late, seconded by Mr. Pettit, the petition is rejected. No change will be made for the Primary Election to be held April 2% 1948.
