LOWSTUTER, COMMISSIONERS 11fONONGAHHLA PCBLISHIFO CO• No. 69 Office of the County Commissioners Washington, Pa., September 214, 1948 Board of County Commissioners in regular session, those present being Messrs. Pettit, Lane and Lowstuter. Minute Nos. 59, 60, 61, 62, 639 649 65, 66,�67 and 68 read and approved. County Controller Stuart called into the meeting for the purpose of awarding contracts for furnishing supplies and services for the Tax Assessment Department. Motion by Mr. Lane, seconded by Mr. Lowstuter, that the contract for furnishing materials for the Tau Assessment Department of our County be awarded to Monongahela Publishing Company, Monongahela, Pa., for the total stint of $1017.94; this being the lowest and best bid received. Motion carried. Motion by Mr. Lane, seconded by Mr. Lowstuter, that the contract for the binding and labeling of 400 books, more or less, which includes transcripts, assessment books and tax duplicates, with District and Year label to be placed on the and of all Transcripts and Tax Duplicates be awarded to Monongahela Publishing Company, Monongahela, Pa., for the total sum of $607,50; this being the lowest and best bid received. Motion carried with County Controller Stuart instructed to return the chocks to the unsuccessful bidder and he was also excused from the meeting. Motion duly made and seconded that the Board for the Assessment and Revision of Taxes be authorized to prepare voucher for refund in the amount of $12.40 in favor of George and Josephine Grandy, Dunlevy, Pa., representing duplicate payment of 1948 County Tax, at face, on occupation and real estate in the Borough of Dunlevy paid to the County Treasurer August 2, 1948, the said tax having been previously paid to the County Treasurer in the net amount of $11.78 under date of duly 231, 1948, but not yet credited on the County Treasurer's Tax Duplicate for the Borough of Dunlevy on August 2, 1948, the date when the said tax was again accepted by the County Treasurer. Motion carried. Motion duly made and seconded that the Board for the Assessment and Revision of Taxes be authorized to prepare voucher for refund in favor of Marion Campbell, California Borough, in the amount of $24.31 covering 1948 Net County Tax paid on 8 Rm. Br. do Frame House and part Lot 176, Liberty Street, assessed valuation, $3300, the said County Tax being a duplicate of that paid by the First Federal Savings and Loan Association, ;Waynesburg, Pa., which company, holds the mortgage on the property in question and, therefore, assumes responsi- bility for the taxes thereon. Motion carried. Motion duly made and seconded that the Board for the Assessment and Revision of Taxes be authorized to prepare voucher for refund in the amount of $,4.24 in favor of Hugh Mc Wee, Courtney, Pa., representing the duplicate payment of 1947 County Tarr, paid at discount, on real estate assessed in the name of Hugh MelWee in Union Township, under date of duly 27, 1948, the said tax having been paid previously to the County Treasurer under date of January Z11 MINUTE BOOK BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS WASHINGTON COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA FRANCIS E. Motion duly made and seconded that the Board for the Assessment and Revision of Taxes be authorized to prepare voucher for refund in the amount of $11.05 in favor of Mrs. Florence Williams, west Middletown, Pa., representing the duplicate payment of 1948 County Tax, at discount on real estate assessed in the Borough of Nest Middletown in the name of the D. R. Miller Estate, paid to the County Treasurer under date of duly 29, 1948, the said tax having been paid previously to the County Treasurer under date of July 8, 1948, but not yet credited on the County Treasurer's Tax Duplicate for the Borough of Rest Middletown on July 29, 1948, the date when the said tax was again accepted by the County Treasurer, Motion carried. Motion duly made and seconded that the Board for the Assessment and Revision of Taxes be authorized to prepare voucher for refund in the amount of $6.98 in favor of J. G. Colvin, 1st National Bank Bldg., Monongahela, Pa., representing duplicate payment, at face, of 1948 County Tax on real estate assessed in the name of Clare B. Steffler, Fifth Avenue, Monongahela, Pa., valuation $900, in the 2nd Ward of the City of Monongahela; such duplicate payment having been made by the said J. G. Colvin, Real Estate Agent, to the County Treasurer under date of August 31, 1948, and, on the same date, the said tax was also paid by the owner of the property, Clare B. Steffler on a duplicate statement issued by the County Treasurer upon his request. Motion carried. Motion duly made and seconded that the Board for the Assessment and Revision of Taxes be authorized to prepare voucher for refund in the amount of $5.43 in favor of Auburn & Elizabeth Kennedy, Cokeburg, Pa., representing duplicate payment, at face, of 1948 County Tax, on real estate assessed at $700 in the Borough of Cokeburg, made to the County Treasurer by the said Auburn & Elizabeth Kennedy under date of August 16, 19489 the said tax having been previously paid to the County Treasurer by the First Federal Savings & Lean Ass'n, Waynes- burg, Pa., under date of August 2nd, 1948, which Association holds the mortgage and, therefore, assumes responsibility for the taxes on said real estate. Motion carried. Motion duly made and seconded that the Director of the Tax Claim Bureau be authorized to abate penalties and interest on the 1943 County and County Institution District Tax amount- ing to $3.20, liened against Egnuts Zets, Clarksville, Pa., on property described as "1+7 Acres surface Panther Den Hollow adjacent J. R. Thistlethwaite", situate in Centerville Borough and now awned by Andrew and Elizabeth Balla. Motion carried. Motion duly made and seconded that the Director of the Tax Claim Bureau be author- ized to abate the interest on the 1925 County Tax amounting to $5.49, liened against John & Mary Baloga, 12 Stewart Alley, Canonsburg, Pa., on property described as "House & Lot on Harrison Street", situate in Canonsburg Borough. Motion carried. Motion duly made and seconded that the Director of the Tax Claim Bureau be authorized
