NO. 78 Office of the County Commissioners Washington, Pa., November 15, 1948 Board of County Commissioners in regular session, those present being Messrs. Pettit, Lane and Lowstuter. Minute Nos. 769 76-A, and 77 read and approved. Controller Stuart called into the meeting for the purpose of rejecting bids on the Photostat Machine received January 24, 1947. Motion by Mr. Lane, seconded by Mr. Lowstuter, that the bids on One Rectigraph Day- light Duplex Photo -Recording Machine and Accessories received from THE HALOID COMPANY, Rochester, N. Y., and the PHOTOSTAT CORPORATION, Rochester, N. Y., on January 24, 1947, be rejected and that the County Controller be instructed to return the certified checks according to the bids. Notion carried. Motion by Mr. Lane, seconded by Mr. Lowstuter, that the County Controller of Washing- ton County in conjunction with the Westmoreland County Controller be authorised to advertise for the furnishing and delivering of the necessary steel as per specifications for the rehabilitation of the Donors -Webster Bridge. Bids to be accepted until 10 a.m... November 29, 1948, and opened at 2 p.m., November 29, 1948, at a joint meeting of the Washington and Westmoreland County Commissioners and County Controllers, meeting to be held in the Office of the County Commissionwa, Court House, Washington, Pa. Notion carried, with Controller Stuart excused from the meeting. Motion by Mr. Lane, seconded by Mr. Lowstuter, that Edward P. Lowstuter be appointed as Field Investigator for the Registration Commission, to replace Frank Zoretic who failed to report; this appointment being effective November 16, 1948. Notion carried. There being no further business to come before the Board at this time, the meeting adjourned. Hagen, Clerk and Bookkeeper in the Juvenile Court Office, be granted a leave of absence due to failing health. i Motion carried. i i An amended order of Court, No. 198 November Term 1943, was read announcing the i t appointment of Geraldine Pfleghardt to the position held by Miss Hagen and -further notice E given in the order was the appointment of Florence Schwartz to the position held by Miss Pfleghardt. I Motion duly made and seceded that the interest on the 1937, 1938 and 1939 County Taxes amounting to $18.07, of the S. P. Beneficial Union, efe Harry Lee & Mary E. Conn Fredericktown, Pa., and assessed as Lots 51-52, Bingler Plan, East Bethlehem Township, be abated., This action is taken in conjunction with similar action taken by the East Bethlehem School and Township Districts as per letters filed in the Tax Claim Bureau. Motion carried. Motion duly made and seconded that the interest an the 1925 County Tax amounting I to $5.1+9 in the name of Grace Thompson, Cecil Street, Canonsburg, Pa., and assessed as House & Lot, Cecil St., Canonsburg lot Ward, be abated. This action was taken for the reason that the 11en had not been properly revived and therefore had become void. Motion carried. Motion duly made and seconded that the penalties and interest an the 1943 County and Institution Tax amounntingto $.95 assessed as Lot and 5 Room Frame House, Granville, Bast Pike Run, in the name of James McCormick Est., c/o Ida McCormick, Coal Center, Pa., be exonerated. This action is taken in conjunction with similar action taken by the School and Road Boards of East Pike Run Township as per letters filed in the Tax Claim Bureau. Motion carried. I Motion duly made and seconded that the Tax Assessment Office prepare a voucher for the refunding of duplicate payment of 194.8 Occupational Taut assessed in the name of Joseph L, MINUTE BOOK BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS WASHINGTON COUNTY, PENNSYL.VANIA FRANCIS E. Motion carried. Motion duly made and seconded that the Tax Assessment Office prepare a voucher for the refunding of duplicate payment of 1948 Occupational Tax assessed in the name of Katie Nelson, c/o Ben Nelson, Monongahela, 2nd Ward, Pa., in the amount of $.910; this adjustment being made on July 169 1948. Motion carried. Motion duly made and seconded that the Tax Assessment Office prepare a voucher refunding $16.28 to Grace Johnston, 404 Eighth Street, Donors., Pa., covering the refund of duplicate payment of 1948 County Tax originally paid August 2, 1948; said payment being dupli- cated August 31, 1948, covering property at 404 Eighth Street, Donora, Pa. Notion carried. Motion duly made and seconded that the Tax Assessment Office prepare a voucher refunding $6.34 to Michael & Anna Zwirek, Ellsworth, Pa., covering the refund of duplicate pay- ment of 1948 County Tax originally paid August 2, 1948, said payment being duplicated August 2, 1948, covering property assessed as 4-Room House & Lot in the aforesaid district. Motion carried. Motion duly made and seconded that the Tax Assessment Office prepare a voucher refunding $11.05 to Albert E. & Alice B. Steele, 570 Ewing Street.. Washington, Pa., covering the rem of duplicate payment of 1948 County Tax originally paid July 191, 1948, said payment being duplicated August 2, 1948, covering property assessed as 2 story Frame House & Lots 2 & 3, PT1, blk 1. Motion carried. Motion duly made and seconded that the Tax Assessment Office prepare a voucher refunding $21.03 to Joseph F. & Evelyn B. Fiedler, North Charleroi, Pa., Lock 4 Bridge, covering the refund of duplicate payment of 1948 County Tax originally paid J1y 209 1948, said payment being duplicated August 2, 1948, covering property assessed as House and Garage, Lot 50, Allen Addition. Motion carried. Motion duly made and seconded that the Tag Assessment Office prepare a voucher refunding $2.33 to Mike and Elefthenia Kalamaras, Charleroi, Pa., in the District of Fallow -- field, covering the refund of duplicate payment of 1948 County Tax originally paid August 2, 1948, said payment being duplicated August 27, 1948, covering property assessed as 2 Room Sm. House, and Lot 80-in the Rider Plan. Motion carried. There being no further business to come before the Board at this time, the meeting adjourned.
