Motion du3y made and seconded that the County Controller be authorized to adver-
tise for bids for Fleet Insurance for public liability, property damage,�fire, theft and co11i-
sion coverage on truck and automobile equipment and road -building machinery owned and operated
by Washington County; such bids to be received by the County Controller in his Office in the
Court House, Washington, Pa., until I1s00 a.m., Monday, February 6, 1950, and opened immediately
thereafter.
Motion carried.
Motion duly made and seconded that the County Controller be authorized to adver-
tise for the furnishing and delivering of approximate2y cue hundred twenty-five (225) cubic
yards of,Transit Mixed Concrete to the Cedar Grove Bridge over the North Fork of Cross Creek,
on Cross Creek Township Route P719; this concrete to be furnished and delivered in accordance
with the specifications of the Pennsylvania Department of Highways for similar materials and
the right is reserved to reject any or all bids or to make such an award as may be deemed to
be to the best interests of Washington County.
Motion carried.
There being no further business to cone before the Board at this time, the meet-
ing adjourned.

Board of County Commissioners in special session, those present being Messrs.
Pettit and Lane.
This meeting called for the purpose of selecting a Director frcw a practical
farmer's list submitted by the participating units in the Soil Conservation District. The
following representatives were present: Washington County Guernsey Breederls Association, Dan
Tau; National Farm Loan Association of Washington, E. D. Brown; and, Washington County Artificis
Breeding Cooperative, T. Scott Pease.
All representatives present, presented the name of Jay Ne2sm as their choice for
the Board of Directors to fill the vacancy used by the expiration of his term. The Commiss-
ioners accepting the choice had a motion duly made and seconded that Jay Nelan be appointed for
a four-year term to the Soil Conservation Board of Directors; said term to expire January 1, 19',
Motion carried.
Mr. Lowstuter now entered the meeting.
Motion by Mr. Lane, seconded by Mr. Lowstuter, that Francis E. Pettit be named
as a Director to the Soil Conservation Board for a one-year term as the Commissioner's repres,
ative; said tern to expire January 11, 1951.
