RESOLUTION
EAS, the citizens living in Smith Township and the Borough of Burgettstown,
Washington County, Pennsylvania, adjacent and nearto the Stream known as Burgettes Run in said
Township, have in the past suffered great loss of property and inconvenience by reason of the
said stream overflowing its banks and flooding the adjacent properties and whereas, the said
floods have in the past created sanitary problems affecting the health of the citizens living
in that vicinity, and
WHEREAS, a Flood Control Project is necessary to protect the safetr� lames and
health of said citizens and their property,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the County of Washington urge the Secretary of
the Army to allot sufficient funds for a Flood Control Project in Smith Township and the Boaroug:
of Burgettstown, Washington County, Pennsylvania, on the Stream of Burgettes Run to the and tha::
the lives and health and properties of the citizens in the vicinity of said stream be protected
and improved thereby, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County of Washington pledge such cooperation as
may be required or necessary to carry out the said project and to execute such assurances to t
Secretary of the Army that may be required under the Federal Control Act of June 22, 1936, as
amended, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be sent to the Secretary
of the Army, the Honorable Francis J. Myers and the Honourable Edward Martin, United States Seo,
tors from Pennsylvania, and the Honorable Thomas E. Morgan,, Member of Congress, Twenty-fourth
District of Pennsylvania.
Motion carried.
There being no further business to come before the Board at this time, the meet-
ing adjourned.

Board of County Cosumissioners in regular session, those present being Messrs.
Pettit, Lane and Lowstuter.
Motion duly made and seconded that the County Controller be authorized to
vertise for a Double -Faced Docket Case with the capacity of Ninety-eight (98) shelves for use
in the Office of the Prothonotary at the Court House, Washington, Pa.; said bids to show one
price on the furnishing of the Docket Case and the other Bid to show the total price of the
furnishing and installing of the Docket Case.
Motion carried.
Motion by Mr. Lane, seconded by Mr. Lowstuter, that the Scott Motor Compaxw.,
,1;,.,2 East Maiden Street, Washington, Pa., be awarded their bid for the furnishing of one (1) 1950
Chevrolet Truck, Suburban, for the total price of 1796.55; this bid being the only qualified
bid received.
Motion carried.
Motion duly made and seconded that a refund voucher in the amount of $19.86 be
made pruable to J. M. Colaizzo Agency, 25 North Jefferson Street, Canonsburg, Pa., can property
assessed in the name of R. Edward Nicola, 717 S. Central Avenues, Canonsburg, Pa., and described
as C-Blk Brig-Unfin, Tri Lot--100 x 150, 9 DB 734-", situate in the Borough of Canonsburg;

said payment being a duplicate payment of the one paid on July 1% 1950, in the mount of $19
(net). The Tax Claim Bureau is authorized to prepare said voucher for the refund of this

Motion duly made and seconded that a refund voucher in the amount of $20.J6
be made payable to Josephine Illiri, 1142 Lincoln Avenue, Charleroi, Pa., on property described
as 1-9 room house -garage, Lot No. 7, 16 121.3 McKean Avenue, situate in the Borough of Charleroi;
said payment being a duplicate payment of the one paid on July 10, 1950, in the amount of $20.7,
(net). The Tax Claim Beau is authorized to prepare said voucher for the refund of this dupli-
sate payment.

Motion duly made and seconded that a refund voucher in the amount of

(paid on July 34, 1950 on 191+9 Personal Property Tax) be made payable to Pete and Veronica j
Makarow, 532 Blaine Avenue, Canonsburg, Pa.; said payment being a duplicate payment of one paid
on August 17, 191±9, in the amount of $8.00, paid at face. The Office of the Board for the j

Assessment and Revision of Taxes is authorized to prepare said voucher for the refund of this i

duplicate payment.

Motion duly made and seconded that a refund voucher in the amount of
$19.4,8 be made payable to Henry and Dorothy Nowak, 94 Woodland Road, Canonsburg, Pa., 2nd Ward,
on property described as 2 Story Brick House, Lot #91+, and then be applied to his original face,

in the amount of 20.90, leaving a balance due of $1.42; this refund is made in view of the fact
that the Treasurer's Office credited his payment to Tony and Sophie Novak.. Lot #92, which was

sold to Quincy Memo, Tax Adjustment #1969; this error causing the Treasurer's Office to liens

the property of Henry and Dorothy Novak, therefore, the Tax Claim Bureau is authorized to pre- I

pare said voucher in the amount of $19.48 and them applying it to the original face of $20.90 I
and to abate the penalty and interest on this 1949 County Tax leaving a balance of $1,42,

Motion duly made and seconded that a refund voucher in the amount of

$11.71. (paid on County and Occupational Tax) be wade payable to John S. Pierson, 1+86 Hayes Aven*,

j Washington, Pa., on property described as House -Garage.. Lots 916-17-18 and situate in the Town-
ship of Canton; this refund is made in view of the fact that on the date of the payment of this
tax, which was July 1, 1950, the property was assessed under the name of Steve S. Sensky and
' Juianita Gorby, former owners of said property; therefore, after John S. Pierson receiving the
corrected statement omitting the Occupational Tax, he duplioatedthe payment on August 1, 1950,
in the amount of $9.93. The Tax Claim Bureau is authorized to prepare,said voucher for the
refund of this duplicate payment.
