Washington County Prison Board
Washington, PA, July 16, 2009
The Washington County Prison Board Meeting was held in the 7ch floor Conference Room, Courthouse Square
Office Building, Washington, Pennsylvania, with the following members being present: Commissioners Larry Maggi,
Bracken Burns; Deputy Controller Randy Vankirk; and Sheriff Sam Romano. Absent being: Commissioner Diana
Irey and District Attorney Steve Toprani. Also being present: Warden Joe Pelzer; Lynn DeHaven, Solicitor; Scott
Fergus, Director of Administration; Linda Belcher, Administrative Assistant; Mary Helicke, Chief Clerk; JoAnn Metz,
Commissioner Irey's Office; Chuck Nicholls, Director of Human Resources; Barbara Miller, Observer -Reporter, and
Jim Jefferson, WJPA.
Chairman Maggi called the meeting to order at approximately 11:35 a.m. and entertained a motion to approve
Minute No. 6-P-09.
Moved by Mr. Burns, seconded by Mr. Romano, approving Minute No. 6-P-09 as written. Motion carried
unanimously by the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye".
WARDEN'S REPORT
Warden Pelzer presented the following information to the Board:
Income from other units for the maintenance of prisoners for June 2009
Administration Fee $3,587.84

Moved by Mr. Romano, seconded by Mr. Vankirk, accepting the Warden's Report as per above. Motion
carried unanimously by the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye".
MINUTE BOOK
PRISON BOARD WASHINGTON COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA
Deputy Controller Vankirk presented to the Board for their consideration and approval the bills for the
monfit of June 2009 in the amount of $72,386.03.
Moved by Mr. Vankirk, seconded by Mr. Romano, approving the bills for the month of June 2009. Motion
carri( d unanimously by the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye". (See list of bills attached hereto and
made a part hereof.)
OLD USINESS
None
NEW I BUSINESS
Solicitor DeHaven gave Board members an update on a case that has been filed on behalf of Thomas King
again t Washington County and the Correctional Facility. He noted that the Courts have ruled in favor of the County
and tie Prison Board.
There being no further business, Chairman Maggi declared the meeting adjourned at approximately
11:35
