Absent being: Commissioner Diana Irey and District Attorney Steve Toprani. Also being present: Warden Joe Pelzer; Lynn DeHaven, Solicitor; Scott Fergus, Director of Administration; Linda Belcher, Administrative Assistant; Mary Helicke, Chief Clerk; JoAnn Metz, Commissioner Irey's Office; Chuck Nicholls, Director of Human Resources; Barbara Miller, Observer -Reporter, and Jim Jefferson, WJPA. Chairman Maggi called the meeting to order at approximately 11:35 a.m. and entertained a motion to approve Minute No. 6-P-09. Moved by Mr. Burns, seconded by Mr. Romano, approving Minute No. 6-P-09 as written. Motion carried unanimously by the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye". WARDEN'S REPORT Warden Pelzer presented the following information to the Board: Income from other units for the maintenance of prisoners for June 2009 Administration Fee $3,587.84 Monthly Sub Total 3,587.84 Year to date GRAND TOTAL $28,980.88 ProEram Fees and Room and Board Income for the Month of June 2009 Work Release Weekenders Turned over to Clerk of Courts (Minus) Adjustments made to billings (Minus) Monthly Sub -Total Year to date GRAND TOTAL Status of prisoners confined at the end of June 2009 Full Time Work Release Weekend prisoners Unsentenced prisoners Awaiting sentencing and/or trial TOTAL PRISONERS Examinations performed by the physician New commitments Repeat patients Billed Collected $20,166.95 $19,885.95 $ 2,320.00 $ 2,320.00 -0- -0- $22,486.95 $22,205.95 $128,697.82 $128,784.82 MALES FEMALES TOTAL 76 9 85 51 7 58 15 2 17 149 20 169 291 38 329 MALES FEMALES TOTAL 112 42 154 Medical Transports performed by the Sheriff 13 61 93 Moved by Mr. Romano, seconded by Mr. Vankirk, accepting the Warden's Report as per above. Motion carried unanimously by the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye". MINUTE BOOK PRISON BOARD WASHINGTON COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA Deputy Controller Vankirk presented to the Board for their consideration and approval the bills for the monfit of June 2009 in the amount of $72,386.03. Moved by Mr. Vankirk, seconded by Mr. Romano, approving the bills for the month of June 2009. Motion carri( d unanimously by the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye". (See list of bills attached hereto and made a part hereof.) OLD USINESS None NEW I BUSINESS Solicitor DeHaven gave Board members an update on a case that has been filed on behalf of Thomas King again t Washington County and the Correctional Facility. He noted that the Courts have ruled in favor of the County and tie Prison Board.
