Washington County Prison Board
Washington, PA, September 16, 2009
The Washington County Prison Board Meeting was held in the 7tn floor Conference Room, Courthouse Square
Office Building, Washington, Pennsylvania, with the following members being present: Commissioners Larry Maggi,
Bracken Burns, Diana L. Irey; Controller Michael Namie; and Sheriff Sam Romano. Absent being: District Attorney
Steve Toprani. Also being present: Warden Joe Pelzer; Lynn DeHaven, Solicitor; Scott Fergus, Director of
Administration; Linda Belcher, Administrative Assistant; Mary Helicke, Chief Clerk; Chuck Nicholls, Director of
Human Resources; Barbara Miller, Observer -Reporter, and Jim Jefferson, WJPA.
Chairman Maggi called the meeting to order at approximately 11:30 a.m. and entertained a motion to approve
Minute No. 8-P-09.
Moved by Ms. Irey, seconded by Mr. Namie, approving Minute No. 8-P-09 as written. Motion carried
unanimously by the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye".
WARDEN'S REPORT
Warden Pelzer presented the following information to the Board:
Income from other units for the maintenance of prisoners for August 2009
Administration Fee $3,576.15
Social Security 2,000.00
Homeland Security 300.00
Monthly Sub Total 5.876.15
Year to date GRAND TOTAL $38,761.15

Moved by Mr. Namie, seconded by Mr. Romano, accepting the Warden's Report as per above. Motion
carried unanimously by the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye".
MINUTE BOOK
PRISON BOARD WASHINGTON COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA
Controller Namie presented to the Board for their consideration and approval the bills for the
of August 2009 in the amount of $83,957.75.
Moved by Mr. Namie, seconded by Ms. Irey, approving the bills for the month of August 2009. Motion carried
by the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye". (See list of bills attached hereto and made a part
here .)
OLD BUSINESS
None
NE BUSINESS
Solicitor DeHaven reported to the Board that a federal magistrate has refused to reconsider a court decision to
out former inmate Thomas King's suit against Washington County.
Controller Namie informed the Board that the audit of the Inmate Welfare Account has been completed and
there were no findings.
There being no further business, Chairman Maggi declared the meeting adjourned at approximately
11:40 a.m.
