Washington County Commissioners
Washington, PA, March 4, 2010
The Washington County Salary Board met in session in the Public Meeting Room of the Courthouse Square Office
Building, Washington, Pennsylvania, for the purpose of reconvening with the following members being present:
Commissioners Larry Maggi, Bracken Burns and Diana L. Irey; and Controller Mike Namie. Also being present: Scott Fergus,
Director of Administration; Mary Helicke, Chief Clerk; Lynn DeHaven, Solicitor; Linda Belcher, Administrative Assistant;
Chuck Nicholls, Director of Human Resources; Debbie Bardella, Recorder of Deeds; John Adams, Frank Byrd and Carl
Maggi, interested citizens.
Chairman Maggi called the meeting to order at approximately 10:35 a.m.
Moved by Mrs. Irey, seconded by Mr. Namie, approving Minute No. 2-S-10 dated February 4, 2010 as written.
Roll call vote taken:
Ms. Irey — Yes; Mr. Burns — Yes; Mr. Maggi — Yes; Mr. Namie — Yes.
Motion carried unanimously.
PUBLIC COMMENTS:
John Adams of Avella addressed the Board regarding the union contracts for county employees.
BOARDS CONSIDERATION
Moved by Ms. Irey, seconded by Mr. Burns, approving the personnel requests found on the FOR THE
BOARD'S CONSIDERATION chart as follows:
ELECTIONS
Per diem employee,15.00/hour, create one position effective 3/15/10 to 5/21/10 to assist in the election process.
TAX REVENUE
Susan Stmisha, per diem employee,15.57/hour, extend the position until 4/12/10 to continue working on a special
project. The position is funded by the Recorder of Deeds Records Improvement Fund and not with general fund
monies.
JAIL
Correctional Counselor, 37,301.24, create one Temp. FT salaried position effective 3/4/10 to work while B. Latkanich is
receiving pay for a family medical leave of absence. The position will be eliminated when B. Latkanich's paid family
medical leave of absence ends and the employee will go into B. Latkanich's position as a Correctional Counselor on a
temporary basis until he returns.
HUMAN RESOURCES
Occupational Safety & Health Specialist, 39,253.29, abolish one FT salaried position, eff. 3/4/10
Human Resources Generalist, 37,369.57, create one FT salaried position, eff. 3/4/10
Roll call vote taken:
Ms. Irey — Yes; Mr. Burns — Yes;
Mr. Maggi Yes; Mr. Namie — Yes.
Motion carried unanimously.

There being no further business, Chairman Maggi recessed the meeting at approximately 10:35 a.m.
