Board of County Commissioners in regular session, those present being Mr. Cummins,
Mr. Pettit and Mr. Lowstuter.

The organization of the Board of County Commissioners.. effected on the first Monday of (.

January, 1944, continued in accordance with the provisions of the Act of Assembly of 1929 (County
Code), to -wits Ross R. Cummins, Chairman of the Board, and Francis E. Pettit, Secretary. �
Motion by Mr. Pettit that W. W. Croner be appointed Chief Clerk to the County
Commissioners, David H. Weiner, County Solicitor, andDavid R. Davidson, Sealer of Weights and l
Measures, for the year 1947, covering the period from the first Monday in January, 1947, to the
first Monday in January, 1948.

There being no second to this motion, it was declared lost.
Motion by Mr. Lowstuter, seconded by Mr. Cummins, that W. W. Croner be appointed Chief
I
Clerk to the County Commissioners for the year 1947, covering the -period from the first Monday
in January, 1947, to the first Monday in January, 1948.
Motion unanimously carried.
Motion by Mr. Lowstuter, seconded by Mr. Cummins.,, that Fray G. Zelt, Jr., be appointed
j County Solicitor for the year 1947, covering the period from the first Monday in January, 1947,
to the first Monday in January, 1948.
Motion carried, with Mr. Cummins and Mr. Lowstuter voting "Ayes, Mr. Pettit "No".
iMotion by Mr. Lowstuter, seconded by Mr. Cummins, that David R. Davidson be appointed
Sealer of Weights and Measures for the year 1947, covering the period from the first Monday in
January, 1947, to the first Monday in January, 1948.
Motion unanimously carried.
Motion by Mr. Lowstuter, seconded by Mr. Cummins, that the following named persons be
employed in the office of the County Commissioners in the respective capacities set forth for the
I year 1947, covering the period from the first Monday in January, 1947, to the first Monday in
January, 1948:

Motion carried, with Mr. Cummins, Mr. Pettit and Mr. Lowstuter voting "Aye" on all
appointments except that of Margaret A. Marcischak, Bookkeeper,, on which Mr. Pettit voted "No".
Motion by Mr. Lowstuter, seconded by Mr. Cummins, that the following named persons be
employed in the Real Estate Department in the respective capacities set forth for the year 1947,
covering the period from the first Monday in January, 1947, to the first Monday in January, 1948:

as Assistant Sealer of Weights and Measures for the year 1947, covering the period from the

at the Detention Home, and May Osborne as Assistant Matron, for the year 1947, covering the period

Motion by Mr. Lowstuter, seconded by Mr. Cummins, that James J. Reardon be named as
Director of Veterans Affairs for the year 1947, and that Harriet Trinoni be named as Secretary
to the Director of Veterans Affairs for the year 1947, loth covering the period from the first
Monday in January, 1947, to the first Monday in January, 1948.
Motion unanimously carried.

Motion duly made and seconded that approval be given to the signing of an Agreement {
„ between Washington County and Allegheny County Workhouse and Inebriate Asylum, for a six months
period beginning January 11 1947, whereby the rate of maintenance for each prisoner at that I
Institution is fixed at $1.20 per day, with the additional charge of the sum of 830 for trans-
portation of each discharged prisoner to the County Seat. f
Motion carried.
d Motion by Mr. Pettit, seconded by Mr. Loxstuter, that the following proposal of C. Lee
Murray for the painting and varnishing in room to be used by Judge Cummins be accepted:
SPECIFICATIONS & ESTIMATE for the proposed painting and varnishing in room,
including adjoining toilet and tipstaff's room, to be used as Judge Cummins!
Chamber.
'Falls and ceilings: 1�1
Repair broken places in plaster, touch up new plaster and paint all surfaces I
two (2) coats semi -gloss paint.

Woodwork:
To be finished in about the same colors and designs as at present. {
All woodwork to be cleaned, touched up and given one (1) coat high grade {
interior varnish.
I agree to furnish all labor and material necessary for the completion i
of this work.
I further agree to carry Workmen's Compensation and Public Liability Insurance.
{ ESTIMATE for above mentioned work is Two Hundred Forty Five (,245.00) Dollars.
Motion carried.
There being no further business to come before the Board at this time, the meeting was I
adjourned.
