BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS WASHINGTON COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA

Thousand ($100,000.00) Dollars as a temporary loan, was presented, duly seconded and adopted by.
said Board, to wits
WHEREAS, it has become necessary for said Board to borrow the sum
of One Hundred Thousand ($100,000.00) Dollars for the purpose of meeting current
expenses for the year 1947, and to be payable out of taxes and other current
revenues which have been assessed and are to be levied and collected by the
County during the year 1947; now, therefore}
BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of the said County
of Washington, that for the purpose of providing funds for the payment of current
expenses of the County, the proper officials of the said County are hereby
authorized and directed to negotiate a temporary loan on such terms as may be agreed
upon by them, payable out of taxes which are to be levied and collected during the
year 1947, and so much of said taxes as may be necessary to repay said loan, with
interest, is hereby set aside and designated for that purpose, and -issue a note
therefor, payable August 5, 1947, with interest from date of said note at the
rate of one (1) per cent. per annum, free of all taxes levied by the Commonwealth
of Pennsylvania, which said taxes the County of Washington assumes and agrees to
pay, said note to be negotiated as follows
GAL FUND SINKING FUND COMMISSION ............. $100,000.00
There being no further business to come before the Board at this time, the meeting was
adjourned.

Board of County Commissioners in regular session,_ those present being Mr. Cummins,
Mr. Pettit and dr. Lowstuter.
Minute No. 242 read and approved.
Motion duly made and seconded that the action taken in Minute No. 241, dated April 18,
1947, granting a 2 weeks leave of absence without pay to Laura Shields, be rescinded.
Motion carried.
Motion duly made and seconded that the Board for the Assessment and Revision of Taxes be
authorized to prepare voucher for refund in the amount of $3.76 in favor of Woodford B. Zeh,
Box 644, Monongahela, Pa., representing payment of 1946.County Tax on a lot in, Monongahela lst
Ward, assessed for the year 1946 in the name of Woodford B. Zeh at $585.00.. with a house and
garage at $795.00.. the said lot being'a portion of 6.475 acres of surface also -assessed at 585.00
to the said Woodford B. Zeh, thus effecting a duplicate assessment of the lot in question. The
Board for the Assessment and Revision of Taxes is hereby directed to correct the 1947 assessment
records in order to eliminate the duplicate assessment.
Motion carried.
Motion duly made and seconded that the Board for the Assessment and Revision of Taxes
be authorized to prepare voucher for refund of the sum of $4.13 in favor of Rachael Ankrom,
R. D. #1, Claysville, Pa., as per tax receipt on file, representing payment of 1945 County Tax

on occupational value of $100,00 and a house and 10 acres of surface adjacent to Reed-Miller-

f Polen, assessed in Buffalo Township at $550,00, making a total assessment of 650.00, said tax
I! being a duplicate of that paid by the First Federal Savings and Loan Association of Greene
County, Waynesburg, Pa., which holds the mortgage and therefore assumes responsibility for the
taxes on this property.
I Motion carried.
Motion duly made and seconded that the request of the Rainbow Girls of Washington, Pa.
for permission to use the Court House lawn, between the Court House and the Jail, to hold an
Ice Cream Social on June 4. 1947, between the hours -of 7:00 and 9tOO p.m., be granted.
Motion carried.
` Motion duly made and seconded that Daylight Saving Time be adopted for the operation

of the Court House, commencing Sunday, April 27-, 1947, at 2 a.m.
Motion carried.
There being no further business to come before the Board at this time, the meeting
was adjourned.

Minute No. 243 read and approved.
Motion duly made and seconded that the County Treasurer be authorized to cancel
Tax Sale of January 22, 1940, of property assessed to Arthur Jordan in Centerville Borough
l and described as "12 acres of surface adj. Charles Watkins; also, to cancel Tax Sale of April 7,
1947, of property assessed to Charles Watkins in Centerville Borough and described as "l lot";
the assessor for said district having certified that these -two assessments are a duplication
with the property described as nl2 acres of surface", previously assessed to Charles Watkins,
j but since 1943 assessed to the preeent owners, Dewey and Lucy Gillis. The Board for the
Assessment and Revision of Taxes is hereby directed to correct the assessment records
accordingly.
Motion carried.
There being no further business to come before the Board at this tile, the meeting
was adjourned.
