Minute No. 284 read and approved.
Motion duly made and seconded that the County Treasurer be authorized to cancel Tax Sale
of April 31, 1946, to James C. Bane, covering property in the Seventh Ward of Washington, assessed in the
name of Mrs. Emma Glenn, and described as "Lots 265-266 Shirls Avenue, Allison Land Company Plan",
inasmuch as this property was previously sold at Tax Sale of April 29, 1940; to Washington County
Commissioners; also, that the Board for the Assessment and Revision of Taxes be authorized to prepare
voucher for refund of the sum of $9.33 to James C. Bane, this -being the amount paid at said Tax Sale.,

Motion duly made and seconded that the County Treasurer be authorized to cancel Tax Sale of
June 25, 1918, to Washington County for the non-payment of 1916 Road Tax in the name of J. K. Lundy
(liened in the name of Jacob Lundy) on property described as "Lot 1063 Blainsburg, W. S. Land Co.,
East Pike Run Township", assessed at $75.00, inasmuch as said lot was a duplication with property
assessed for said year at $650.00 to Jacob Lundy as "H & L, Blainsburg".
Motion carried.
There being no further business to come before the Board at this time, the meeting was
adjourned.

Motion duly made and seconded that approval be given to the signing of a Release of
Damages by Gertrude E. McLoney, et al., to Washington County, for the sum of Two Hundred Ninety-nine
(299.00) Dollars, covering property abutting on State Legislative Route 621273, between Station
98/82 and Station 104/75, in Buffalo Township.
Motion carried.
Motion duly made and seconded that approval be given to the signing of a Release of Damages
by John Duni, dated Nov. 25, 1947, to Washington County, for the sum of One (1.00) Dollar, covering

Motion duly made and seconded that an appropriation in the sun of Two Hundred ($200.00)
I Dollars be granted to Headquarters, 110th Infantry, Pennsylvania National Guard, Certificate of

Inspection having been presented to the Board.

Motion duly made and seconded that an appropriation be made to The West Alexander
Agricultural Association in the sum of Three Hundred ($300.00) Dollars, to assist in defraying
i
expenses of their Annual Fair.
Motion carried.
i Motion duly made and seconded that the Board for the Assessment and Revision of Taxes
be authorized to prepare voucher for refund of the sum of $5.17 in favor of Rev. Charles H.
McDonald, representing Personal Property Tax paid on 40 shares Vick Chemical for the year 1947,
Pennsylvania Department of Revenue having declared this stock exempt.
Motion carried.
Motion duly made and seconded that the Board for the Assessment and Revision of Taxes
' be authorized to prepare voucher for refund of the sum of $9.66 in favor of Ruth G. Neel,
1803 Commonwealth Bldg., Pittsburgh, Pa., covering 1945, 1946 and 1947 County Tax paid on a "two
room house" assessed at $200.00 and "lots" assessed at $300.00, making a total assessment of
$500.00, in Carroll Township, this being an error in assessment. Mrs. Neel has never owned this
house and the lots and, in fact, this particular assessment does not actually exist, but she is
j assessed in full for lots she rightfully owns. The 1945 tax was paid on July 25, 1945; the 1946
tax was paid on July 22, 1946; and the 1947 tax on July 26, 1947 - each in the amount of $3.22, as
per tax receipts on file.

Motion duly made and seconded that the County Solicitor be authorized to satisfy lien for

1946 delinquent County Tax entered in the County Treasurer's office in the name of Monongahela
Girl Scout Council, covering an assessment carried on the records as "Brick house and lot, 531 Main
I
Street, $2600" for the year 1946, which should have been exempted from taxation under the provisions
of the Act of Assembly governing such matters, both city and school tax for the said year having
been exonerated by the City of Monongahela. This property was purchased by Monongahela Girl Scout
i Council under an Order of the Court at No. 179 May Term, 1946, and carried in the exempt property
for county purposes for the year 1947, and also appears on the exempt list for the year 1948 as
i
returned by the local Assessor.
Motion carried.
It is the desire of the Commissioners that notation be made on the Minutes, confirming
action of the Board in refusing to open bids on Friday, November 28, 1947, for the construction of
the Huffman and Farrar Bridges, for the reason that advertising by the County Controller did not
comply with Act No. 250, of June 12, 1947, governing such matters.
Motion duly made and seconded that the County Controller be authorized to re -advertise
for bids for the construction of Huffman Bridge, Pigeon Creek No. 21-A, and Farrar Bridge,

Motion duly made and seconded that approval be given to the payment of the sum of $1750.00
to J. Salem Flack on accout of damages to property on State Highway Route 62127, in accordance
with Award of Viewers at No. 6 May Term, 1947, Q. S.
Motion carried.
Motion duly made and seconded that the County Treasurer be authorized to cancel Tax Sale
of March 24, 1942, for the non-payment of 1935 County, School and Road Taxes covering property in
Canton Township assessed in the name of Charles Intravalot and described as "2 lots, Forgie Plan
#52-53, 2 Lots, Forgie Plan #54-55", inasmuch as the assessment of Lots Nos. 52 and 53 is a
duplication with that of Kenneth Hull, and Lots Nos. 54 and 55 were previously sold to Washington
County on April 22, 1940, and re -sold by them on April 27, 1944, to J. R. and Anna Hull.
Motion carried.
Motion duly made and seconded that the County Treasurer be authorized to cancel tax sale of
April 3, 1944, to Washington County, covering property in the Borough of Donors, assessed in the name
of Gertrude Ailes Latcham, and described as "Lot #23 Blk. 19 - 6th St.", inasmuch as this property was
previously sold on February 7, 1941, to the Borough of Donora.
Motion carried.
G Motion duly made and seconded that the County Treasurer be authorized to cancel tax sale
of March 24, 1942, for the non-payment of 1936 School Tax assessed in the name of H. B. Warren, in
Jefferson Township, and described as 112 Story Tile Building"; also, to cancel tax sale of March 24,

1942, for the non-payment of 1935 and 1936 County, School and Road Taxes assessed in the name of
Weiner and Warren Co. in Jefferson Township and described as "Building and Lot, Adj. property of
Mary Boles and Max Little". These two sales cover the same property, which was previously sold to

Washington County by the County Treasurer on April 25, 1940, under the name of Weiner and Warren Co.,
I
but described as "2 S. Tile Bldg. and Lot, Adj. Mary Boles and Max Little", and re -sold by Washington,
' County on October 5 1942 to Phil Brozier.
Motion carried.
There being no further business to come before the Board at this time, the meeting was
adjourned.
