O'NEIL, COMMISSIONERS MONONGAHELA PUBLISHING RO. NO. 94 Office of the County Commissioners April 30, 1945 Board of County Commissioners in regular session, those present being Mr. Cummins and Mr. Pettit. Motion duly made and seconded that Christine Baker, of Washington, Pa., be employed as a { Cleaner in the Court House as a substitute for Mary Higginbotham, now on indefinite leave of absence, such employment to be for the year 1945, effective May 1, 1945, and covering the period from that date I I until such time as Mary Higginbotham again assumes her position. Motion carried. f ' I Motion duly made and seconded that the County Controller be authorized to advertise for tht furnishing of Fifteen (15) Wiley Niagara -Fluorescent Fixtures No. 4 NFI200 L - Instant Start - 110 volts, 60 cycle - Louver Bottom.; said bids to be presented on proposal blanks furnished upon i i application at the office of the Chief Clerk, and accompanied by a certified check in the sum. of 100.00. The right is reserved to reject any or all bids. Motion carried. There being no further business to coarse before the meeting at this time, it was adjourned. SSE FOREGOING MINUTE READ AND APPROVED May 11, 1945 j .ATTEST." 1 I i NO. 95 Office of the County Commissioners i Washington, Pa., May 4, 1945 � I I j Board of County Commissioners in regular session, those present being Mr. Cummins and I Mr. Pettit. i Tlie following Resolution of the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Washington,I j State of Pennsylvania, relative to the issue by the said County of a note for Fifty Thousand j (#50,000.00) Dollars as a temporary loan, was presented, duly seconded and adopted by said Board, tom wits I i WHEREAS, It has become necessary for said Board to borrow the sum of 4 Fifty Thousand ($50,000.00) Dollars for the purpose of meeting current f expenses for the year 1945, and to be payable out of taxes and other current d revenues which have been assessed and are to be levied and collected by the County during the year 1945; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVER by the Board of County Commissioners of the said County I of Washington, that for the purpose of providing funds for the payment of current expenses of the County, the proper officials of the said County are hereby authorized and directed to negotiate a temporary loan on such terms as may be agreed upon by them, payable out of taxes which are to be levied and collected during the year 1945, and so much of said taxes as may be necessary to repay said loan, with interest, is hereby set aside and de- f signated for that purpose, and issue a note therefor, payable August 6, 1945, with interest from date of said note at the rate of one (1) per cent, per annum, free of all taxes levied by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, which said taxes the County of Washington assumes and agrees to pay, said note to be negotiated and issued as follows. - THE WASHINGTON UNION TVUST COMPANY, Washington, Pa......... 50,000.00 Deputy Controller Dentel called into the meeting for the purpose of opening bids for the h repair and restoration of books now on file in the offices of the Prothonotary and Register of Wills.# I I � MINUTE, BOOK BOARS? In accordance with advertisement of the County Controller therefor, the following bid, being the only one received, was opened and read: C. EDWIN Hf3LTMAN COKFANY, Pittsburgh, Pa. Having examined the attached Specifications for the restoration and repair of records in the Court House of Washington County, Pennsylvania, and understanding the same, I for We) propose to perform this work in accordance therewith at the price of $ 92.15 per volume— Prothonotary"s Office 59.25 per volume - Register of Wills" Office Motion duly made and seconded that action on awarding of above contract be deferred. I Motion carried. j Deputy Controller Dentel excused from the meeting at this time. Minutes Nos. 93, 94, and 95 read and approved. Harvey Stuart, County Controller, called into the meeting for the purpose of opening bids received in accordance with advertisement of the County Controller, for the furnishing of 15 0 Ifluoreseent lighting fixtures. In accordance therewith, the following bids were opened and read: 1 Knestrick Electric Company..........$ 54.95 per unit, complete with lamps Washington Wiring Compagj........... i53.75 " Hiles Electric Company ..............$ 51.50 Austin N. Knestriok................. 54.08 " F Motion by Mr. Pettit, seconded by Mr. Cummins, that the contract for furnishing 15 i ;fluorescent fixtures be awarded to Hiles Electric Company, Canonsburg, Pa., at their bid price of $51.50 per unit, complete with lamps, it being the lowest and best bid received. Motion carried, with the County Controller present when this action was taken and instructed to return the certified checks of the unsuccessful bidders.
